Nova SouthEastern Fall 2012 FNP
I am looking to apply to Nova's FNP program for Aug or Jan, any feedback from those who started this past fall? Are most of the classes online or can you choose live? Are the professors knowledgeable?

Any suggestions on how to make it through the first weeks of nursing school?
1st semester is extremely intimidating. But, the reading doesn't slow down. I'm a 3rd semester student in a 2year program and our 1st test has over 20 chapters of reading. And this is supposed to be the easiest of the 4 semesters. The advise you have gotten above is so true! Just keep your head in the book and pay attention in class. I am an online student, which I feel gives me more time to read, but I too match my reading to the handouts. And review books & practice questions are a necessity. Good luck!!

PBSC/PBCC August 2010
Online really isn't any harder than in class lecture. If you are well disciplined than you will do fine. Good Luck. :)

St. Mary's or Delray?
Thank you... only one more post for me :)

St. Mary's or Delray?
I did my clinical rotation at Delray. It was not bad. However, I did have the occasion to see why people don't have nice things to say. I am interested to know what you have heard, I am still in school, but I live near Delray & would like any info I can get prior to graduation. I am not able to message you. But if you can message me I would truly appreciate it.

Need Your Opinion: ASN or BSN?
You will most likely need A&PII w/lab & MCB w/lab for PBSC also. The point system they use gives 3 points for each APII & Micro, which you will need to get accepted. Also, it is next to impossible to add those classes to your 1st semester course load. Regarding the FAU numbers - I heard the same thing from an admissions clerk and other students in the program, it is extremely "competitive". Good Luck in whatever you choose to do. :)

I'm in full time program, so I can't comment on the part time course load. But, my advise is get EVERYTHING out of the way before you start the program (including Pharmacology). Trying to take additional classes when in the program is extremely taxing. Good Luck.:)

H20, I do not have enough posts to PM & I didn't see your email in your profile. If you can PM me send me your e-mail & I will forward you what I have for reading assignments.

VegetasGRL03, Hate to keep bothering you... but you are a wealth of knowledge for us "kids". I too am going into 2nd Semester and have a question for you. I read your post about what to expect and with specific regards to interventions... Are we required to know the drug therapy for each disease process? For example pneumonia, do we need to know the different antibiotics for the different types of pneumonia in addition to the nursing interventions? Hope you are enjoying your time off, and thank you in advance for any guidance you can offer.

First off let me say, that with comments like this, it is no wonder Graduate Nurses have trouble getting help from more experienced Nurses. Secondly, to all other incoming 1st Semester Students who aren't so immature... Don't get your hopes up for a "better 1st day". The first two weeks of classes are horrible. And the stress of the first semester continues for quite sometime. But, if you really "want" to be a nurse, you can do it! As for taking online classes, VegetasGRL03 is right. It is possible to do well without going to lecture. Good Luck to all.

Incoming 1st Semester Students... Don't worry about the online thing... if you are used to online classes. I am a 1st Semester student now (love online classes) and I am happy with my choice to do online Semester 1. I think it's all personal preference. My test grades are better than I expected and I have chosen to take Semester 2 online. And yes, I'm still nervous. But, there is lots of reading and not sitting in lecture is a big time saver! Listen to Navygirl's advise... Get organized and start reading ASAP. Good Luck to all.

Has anyone ever taken Critical Thinking? Is it helpful, or not necessary if you scored well on the NLN? Please help? I don't want to waste money or precious time.
