Paying for NP school

Published

Anyone have any out of the box ideas for paying for NP school? I start in May 2015. I just finished filling out my FAFSA and am searching for scholarships, etc.

Thanks!

I started with full tuition reimbursement by my employer but then went per diem to have more freedom to actually study well. So now am maxing out my federal loan but I live in an underserved area so will qualify for loan repayment programs no matter where I work.

I seriously want to smack people on the back of the head that tell me they have 100k loans for FNP.

Agreed. I cannot justify that kind of debt for myself! I would like to eventually go the NP route in the future, but not at that expense!

I agree. My entire program cost less than $25k and i honestly don't know if i would have done it for much more!

I am all about furthering education, but for ME, there is also a limit. I took employer tuition reimbursement for as long as i could so my first several classes were essentially free! I am cash flowing much of the rest and taking out some small federal student loans to cover the difference. I am also taking a different job to allow me to actually finish school, and i will probably consider as much overtime as I am offered as long as I can make the schedule work with my classes.
