I have made my mind up and I'm going to move to Ohio, but I need to have some idea of the pay rates for new RNs (BSN)
I just got hired on a TCU ( transitional care unit) and the base is $27.50 with a $2.00 increase to your base pay after completing a skills assessment in 2 weeks. Also an increase of 11% after 3pm 12% for w/e and 4% for nites and $4.00 extra for more than 16hrs on a w/e shift. Oh and they supply your uniforms. :w00t:

That sounds like very good money. May I inquire as to where this is?
For central Ohio I can give you starting rates for two of the major hospital systems: 21.86 for one and 22.75 for the other. I don't know what the OSU system pays.
Shift diff for one of the above systems is $4.75/hr. Weekend diff is another 4.75/hr on top of shift diff if applicable (meaning if you work 2nd or 3rd shift and the weekend you get 9.50/hr on top of base pay). You get weekend diff no matter what schedule you work.
Hope this helps. If health insurance benefits are very important to you be sure to ask lots of questions because one of the major systems in central Ohio just made a very big change in their health benefits--a change that many current employees are not happy with.

Hyde Park Health Center...they are located in the same building as the nursing home but they are their own seperate unit and is RN only. Basically they share the same building and you work for them but you aren't with them...LOL

The health insurance at my institution is now some sort of health care account program rather than traditional HMOs or PPOs. When I was hired a little over a year ago they offered three different kinds of medical insurance and now they only have the account program and my co-workers have not been happy about it (I use my husband's insurance). I'm sure if you speak with human resources or interview with them they will be up front about it and can provide you more info. I just know my co-workers have been unhappy, particularly those with chronic medical problems.
I forgot to answer the other question about ADN vs BSN. I don't think there is any diff for BSN at my institution and I've heard that any diff in the central OH area for BSN is minimal.
Some of the major hospital groups to check out in central Ohio (if hospital is what you're interested in) are Mount Carmel Health System, OhioHealth and OSU Medical Center.
