Thank you so much for your support! The thing is-my boss fought for me but our HR department didn't think it was a "big deal." My nose was broken and I was off work for 4 days and told if I wanted to receive workers comp, I had to miss 8 work days (i work 12's so that's a LOT of days). I'm now having some sinus issues and migraine issues that we're having a difficult time getting covered by workers comp. I've learned to get the hell out of the way when patients get combative--although--i thought I was out of the way at the head of the bed the last time but apparently that wasn't quite out of foot shot!

well first off--congratulations on graduating!!!! that is awesome! i graduated may07--decided not to take a review class because i scored well on our "practice" nclex exam. i sat for my boards in june07 and passed. a couple of my girlfriends just graduated in dec07 and sat for boards yesterday(!!) after taking their review class. the paperwork doesn't take long to process and you should hopefully be able to sit soon. good luck! i say if you are

i had the cutest little old lady the other night ask me to come home with her...she said i was the "only nice nurse in this joint." that made me feel really good. horray for compliments!

I've been working in our ICU/SDU for 6 months now and it's definitely SO overwhelming. Some of the other nurses have been thre 15+ years and act like I should know everything...it's frustrating. I'm getting more comfortable but still have a hard time taking the initiative to take the challenging ICU patients. Good luck to the rest of you

I actually got kicked in the face this past November (it was T-day night) and was told by HR and workman's comp that it should be "okay" because he was confused and didn't know what he was doing. I didn't get compensated for the time I missed.

I'm at a small local hospital in the mentor area and I make 22.89 plus a dollar shift differential for anything after 3pm until 7am.

When doing an ICU admit one night at 3am we were asking this patient his medical history...Of course one of those questions is have you ever fractured any bones his response was "no but i've broken my scrapula."

That was great! I'm a new grad RN and I already found myself shaking my head and saying "yep." I needed a good laugh today--Thanks!
