Hi everyone!
I was offered a visiting nurse position, and they haven't told me the pay rate yet!! I asked and she said she had to ask (whoever) what it would be because they base it on experience etc. I am really nervous they are going to try to low ball me! So when I see them next week, I need an idea of the average pay rate for visiting nurses in MA??? Any help would be appreciated! I have about 1 year acute care RN experience, and 3/4 years of CNA experience. Thanks in advance!

Scour the online job sites for that area, you may find an occasional ad that lists the pay range. Even if you only have one example, that is better than a complete guess. You can also cold call employers and ask, without identifying yourself.

Here's what I suggested to my admin when considering the high quality nurses that we wanted, put them at the top of the pay scale. (Per visit rate) They're going to have to bust their butts to do what the rest of us can do in less time. IOW, I may be done at 3 while they're working til 7 to get their paperwork in, or I'm making more visits and more money.
Use that logic when negotiating pay.

Will you be paid per visit or hourly/salary? If the agency's staff is represented by the MNA, you will be offered union scale- no more, no less.
