Published

Doctors don't give total care. So, I'm not sure I understand your question.

MD and RN are two totally separate professions in the same arena of healthcare. To make it simple...an MD treats conditions and illnesses within their scope and provides resources or referals to specilists if needed. They prescribe medications and treatments needed on an individual basis.

An RN treats human beings in the scope of their practice in healthcare...not necessarily the illness or condition alone, but in the spectrum of the entire individual. We are talking ADL (activities of daily living), emotional, social, spiritual (referals or actual dependant), and s/sx of condition/illness based on MD prescribed orders...and much more! We are there for the human being behind the condition as well as assisting the treatment with the healthcare team to provide for the best individual outcome!

Medicine treats the illness/disease/condition

nursing treats the human response to said illness/disease/condition

I wonder if the OP means having an NP or MD for one's primary care provider?
