any passers out there????

Published

Hi all,

Feeling very, very discouraged here. Waiting on an ATT and reading past treads for tips and strategies but very, very rarely here good news on first time passers. Why is that? Are there any first time passers out there?? ( I am sure there are.) I am just not seeing it very often. I have almost told myself, "well, nobody passes on the first try." I do not want to go in to the exam with this attitude. I want to pass the first time. One reason is the expense. After all of the money we have all spent getting to this point $200 a pop is rough!! School has nickel and dimed me to death!!!! Any tips from anyone to help boost my confidence level for a first time pass? Would like some feedback.

Thanks,

Alisha B

Hi, I found out yesterday that I also passed on the first try with 75. form what I understand so far my fellow classmates have paased on the first try too.

I passed it in first try with 102 questions..And I have 45 other classmates who all passed in their first try (We have 100% pass rate for our class:lol2::lol2:)....So dont get discouraged...Staying positive is one of the most important thing u need for this test...U can do it!!!! :nurse::D........

i passed the first time with 75 questions on june 28th and so has my whole class so far. it is very possible to pass the first time. my advice is to do kaplan and do tons of practice questions! thats how i passed! good luck! :)

You have no reason to be discouraged! I passed on my first try with 75 questions, as did everyone else in my class so far. This is just like anything else, people talk about the negative more than the positive. Remember, you passed nursing school, all of those hard tests, why can't you do one more?

As others have said, do questions. A lot. That's the most helpful thing you can do. I also went through some review books and read through things I felt I may have forgotten. Also, I would know your lab values.

When you take the test, stay calm. I'm going to be honest, the whole time I was taking I was questioning if I was doing bad or good. The questions take some time, and you have plenty of time. Think them through, and even if you have no clue what the question is referring to, use NCLEX Test-Taking Strategies, found in many books. Those really help.

Good luck :)

https://www.elicense.ct.gov/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx I found out about 36 hours after I took the exam that I passed by looking up my license. (DID NOT COST ME 8 bucks!)

I passed in an hour and 15 minutes with 75 questions. I walked out the test not feeling confident, but I think that may be normal. My class so far is 100% according to my knowledge. I am not sure how they proved competence with me with the questions I was given, but yeah listen to the prior post. You must stay calm doing the exam.. you have plenty of time to panic after you leave. I too thought about if i was doing good or bad.. looking at questions wondering how my line looked .. was I above the level of competence or below? I got so many SATA and I do poorly on those, but I hear that is a good thing to get a lot of those.

I passed the first time. 78 questions. As far as I know the pass rate, according to the Oregon NCLEX stats are 85% pass rate for the first time.

You will do fine if you tell yourself YOU WILL pass the first time. Like you said at 200$ per try, passing the first time is a very good thing.

Hey-

I passed NCLEX on the first try on July 20th! It can be done! You ABSOLUTELY have to walk into that testing center like you know u can pass, bc NCLEX questions have to be thought out and you have to be mentally and emotionally prepared to complete that exam!

So far everyone in my class who has taken it so far in the last month (6 ppl) have passed the exam, so it is very do-able!

Don't be discouraged, stay positive and do questions!

You'll do fine!

P.S. don't freak out if you get more than 75 questions... I got 83 questions and began to panic once I went past 75. Just stop and calm yourself down, it means nothing!

Congratulations!!!!!:yeah::yeah:

took nclex july 27th, found out today.... i passed. it was my first attempt. 75 questions about an hour of my time. you can do this! many of my classmates have. in fact, most of us have. i found kaplan helpful as well as saunders. practice as many questions as you can! read all of your answer choices and the rationales. after about 1000 or so practice questions you'll get the hang of it. you have to be positive. that's half the battle.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am getting ready to take my boards. So far I have practiced almost 5000 questions. I have been using ATI because it was recommended in my program and NCLEX 4000.

Passes with 75 questions in 45 minutes- I am normally a very fast test taker and didn't want to change a thing for fear of over thinking the questions. Wishing all the future test takers the best of luck and remember to keep calm. My little heart was pounding so fast and hard - lol

I took it July 6th and passed in 75 questions, it took about an hour...and honestly it wasn't really bad at all.
