At my program, 2nd semester is chock full of medsurg, OB, and Peds. Third semester is also hard, almost as difficult as 2nd semester is. First semester isn't too bad, but people have problems with it just because they're having to adjust to NCLEX-style questions and usually it's all new content.
Our 2nd semester consisted of Med Surg, Maternity/OB and Long Term Care. I actually liked Med Surg. If you remember your Physiology well, you'll do fine in Med Surg. OB was a breeze and I actually liked clinicals more than I thought I would.
The material was more difficult in this semester, but I enjoy learning about disease process, so I found it fascinating. The clinical paperwork became more in-depth and we were expected to come up with correct nursing diagnoses on our own, instead of being guided. The hardest part was having to type our paperwork (17 pages) and submit it in less than 24 hours. I had many a late Friday night!

Anyone else starting their second semester in their program fall 2014? We start med surg, I have no idea what this semester will entail but I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
Any tips former second semester students can provide would be helpful. I'm at work and a little bored lol
