Hi Everyone I've been lurking on these forums for quite some time now and I feel that this forum really helped and I want to give back. So let's start
resource materials:
that's about all I used
What I think helped me pass? Questions, Questions, Questions
I did read hurst and thanks to it I understood core concepts but to me it wasn't enough. Think of it like a foundation and now that you have a foundation you need your building afterwards. That's where PDA by La Charity and Kaplan came in
my scores In La Charity will make you cry if you saw them
I got the book and I'd test myself only getting 50%-60% of the answers right
so like out of 20 i'd only get 11 or something but don't let the wrong answers and low scores discourage you. read each rationale for every question that you passed and eventually you'll get a "feel" for it. I wrote down, yes I wrote down every single rationale that I encounterted and reviewed it by the end of the day
So I basically did test questions all day wrote the rationales and organized it to either cardio, maternity, respiratory, meds etc. you get the idea. and reviewed the rationales at the end of the day. because I retain info better when I write them
I'm not a US educated nurse either I'm from the Philippines and was not even close to being an honor student in my school
I went to school bringing nothing but my phone and tablet. No paper, no pen, no book, nothing. because I was so lazy.
So if somebody like me who is far from stellar academically passes then people like you who have burned your a** off studying will definitely pass
The NCLEX is not as hard as people make it to be! it's hard I'll tell you that but not as hard as people make it seem. If you have the Qtrainers by kaplan and do PDA by La Charity you'll feel right at home answering the NCLEX
Questions, Questions, Questions I have the Saunders book but man the info was just too much and I just well i didn't read before im sure as hell not reading now. So I told myslef F*ck it im just gonna do test questions
you see if you do tons and tons of questions and write down the rationales you're basically reviewing content as well. hey at least it worked for me maybe that'll work for some people too
I had 1 math question and a positioning question and I knew I got both wrong
I didn't even bother calculating the math question I just typed in a random number and clicked next. So by now you can tell Im not the sharpest tool in the shed.
If you know your way around google you can find resources everywhere.
I walked out of the testing center dazed. Thinking *** just happened in there? Where the hell did those questions come from. I put on the earplugs that they provided you with and all I could hear was my heart beating so loud it was like a disco in there!
If a C something student like me who is not even a US educated nursing student can pass the NCLEX the 1st time in 85 questions
You definitely can. I forgot to mention my hurst scores ow boy they were sh*t
you could only take the test 6 times here were my hurst scores
70=55%
69=55%
74=59%
72=57%
75=60%
81=64%
and well according to hurst the average scores of people who passed the nclex taking their program was 86 points or 68%
I was nowhere near that pecentage but I passed
Just remember. You cannot and will not ever even in your entire lifetime know everything about nursing
and the NCLEX is not as hard as people make it seem to be
you got this. I know 90% of you reading this have way better scores than me so if I can do it. So can you
Anyone who reads this, I keep reading about people having an exhibit question on NCLEX and I don't know what that is? Anyone care to explain what an exhibit question is?
Exhibit questions are kinda like "look at the chart" questions, then just pick the correct answer from the given choices. I think ncsbn got a sample on their website.

Congratulations Kabayan! I took the NCLEX last week and passed. We both have pretty much the same resources, Hurst was awesome for content! Did the PDA and NCSBN for questions.
Good luck future pinoy RNs!

I think the NCSBN questions really helped me prepared for the NCLEX. The questions are very similar to the actual test and more tricky than Kaplan. For the content, Hurst nailed it! I hate reading, so the Hurst videos were perfect for me! And oh I forgot to add the mastery app, I used it on my lunch breaks at work.
Now I'm thinking about joining in the military. I'm a female so not sure how can I handle the boot camp but we'll see!

wew NCSBN?? man I feel like smashing my monitor everytime I answered their questions. I swear to god I failed each and every exam I took from that XD I mean seriously.
woah well you're a female? well hello m'lady (that's me trying to flirt with you) *wink
just kidding
hurst was definitely the foundation. but I felt needed something more because well when I took the NCSBN none of the what I knew in hurst was their cuz like it was all prioritzation and delegation questions
and the nclex mastery app? oh man that one is pretty good too.
Well I guess we your fellow RN's and Filipino RN's well be saluting you soldier

I found this really good med book over at amazon NCLEX Questions: Top Meds on NCLEX RN 3rd Edition - Kindle edition by Jonathan Small, Maria Gonzales, Md Asifullah. Professional & Technical Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.check that out and yes I read the study guide too. I just kept reading it just skimming it everyday
how you said you had La Charity right? how did your scores fare?
Thanks for sending me that link! I'll definitely check it out. I take the NCLEX next Friday. Nerves are getting to me, but there's no turning back now. Haha.
As for my LaCharity scores...they range anywhere from the 60s-70s.
Thank god I'm not the only one who feels like reading the Saunders rationales is too much reading and kinda exhausting, but don't get me wrong Saunders is really good with content and improving your test taking skills. I say it's okay to feel lazy sometimes the brain needs to take a break too right? Thanks for this post made me feel not so guilty anymore. Congrats again my fellow bisdak youre officially a USRN!
