Passed NCLEX in 75 questions.

Hi guys, I just passed my NCLEX on Friday! 75 questions in 30 minutes - although I do not recommend taking it that quickly bc they will put your results on hold. Here is how I prepared for it:

A.) ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS IN YOUR PRECEPTORSHIP. DO AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. GET EVERYTHING YOU POSSIBLY CAN OUT OF IT. Ask a lot of questions in general. In my experience, when I encountered something in real life (let's say, how do you hang FFP? with a macrodrip, to gravity), I'd remember it better. Y'know, from real life. ;)

B.) Saunders! I definitely do not feel that the questions are NCLEX passing levels questions, but the explanations at the beginning of the chapter and those highlighted nursing considerations are great review and things to remember as you're taking the NCLEX.

C.) Prep-U. While it isn't perfect, it does act a little like NCLEX in that the questions get harder as you achieve higher mastery levels.

D.) Kaplan. I don't think that Kaplan is as amazing as people crack it out to be. Yes, the decision tree is awesome if you get a question that you can apply it to...but I think I utilized the decision tree 10-20%, if at all on my NCLEX. What's really valuable about Kaplan is the q-bank. The questions are a lot harder than Saunders or any other NCLEX q reviews, IMO. Additionally, they have a quiz that's made up of entirely alternate format questions: SATA, hotspot, ordering.

E.) RELAX. Easier said than done, but honestly the anxiety was the worst part about the NCLEX.

F.) KNOW YOU HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO PASS. Cause after what...at least 3 years of school and hundreds of clinical hours you know what a nurse is *supposed* to do in the ivory tower of NCLEX Memorial Hospital. ;)

GOOD LUCK!

Congratulations!!!

Congrats, I passed mine saturday and I agree with you about how useless the decision tree is. I loved the kaplan questions but never truly utilized the decision tree, I just stuck to my usual routine.
