Passed Nclex 2nd time with 5 SATA

Published

To everyone who is taking NCLEX, don't freak out if you don't get too many SATA. When I took my Nclex the first time I got around 8-9 SATA, no maths, 1 exhibit, 1 EKG and 1 picture. But I failed. I took Kaplan the first time.

Second time I took HURST, listened to Kaplan videos again (they cover a lot of important topics) and did 4 Qtrainers, purchased 3 week NCSBN course and did their questions and did 200 SATA from Saunders. On September 3, I went to my testing center. However, because of technical difficulties I have to start my exam from 8:30 instead of 8. When I got my first question, I was so confident. I was at question 35 and I freaked out because I was not getting any SATA. Well, then I got couple of it. To make it short I got around 4-5 SATA, one math (the answer was given on the question), 3 EKG, 1 Exhibit, didn't ask any specific drugs and priority Questions. I was bombarded with Priority questions. Since, we could not do PVT, I have been praying and crying for last 48 hours and this morning I paid $8(which was the best $8 I have ever spent) and passed.

Therefore, everyone who is taking NCLEX for the second time , I know how it feels to fail the first time however, God is watching us and he makes everything work.

Cheers

Sorry for any typos, I am using my phone.

Thanks for the information. I've been so stressed out after taking my exam because I only had about 8-9 SATA which I thought meant I failed. I tried the new PVT trick despite all the comments about it and kept getting the 'good pop up.' Hopefully I passed too, but will not know officially until 2-3 weeks.

Congratulations! I'm sure you feel a great sense of relief and a burden lifted off your shoulders (I know I did :)). Go celebrate for a job well done.

@_LVNtobe Since you are getting "good poop up" I think you passed. However, you can still go to pearsonvue website and pay $8 after 48 hours to get an unofficial result. I wish you all the best. Let me know how it goes :-)

SATA is merely a format type. Questions that are above passing standard AND BELOW passing standard can be in this format.

You might get every SATA question correct, but if they are below passing standard, you will not pass.

The type of question (SATA, drag/drop, med calc, on and on and on) are not an indication of how you are doing.

People pass and fail with lots of SATA. With NO SATA. With everything and anything.

Unfortunately, students still stress over and read meaning into things that aren't at all relevant.

Good luck to you :)

Yes I do. After I failed the first time I was losing hope. I have been a zombie for the last 45 days and now I am gonna celebrate like a star lol.

Anki you deserve to celebrate! Congrats on becoming a RN! It's good to know that there are tests that don't have a lot of SATA's on them (whether or not they are among those that count the most). Of all the types of questions those are the ones I am worst at answering. Now I can be hopeful that my next NCLEX will only have a few instead of the large amount several have commented on receiving during their test. Again CONGRATS to you.

Unfortunately I can't. I live in California and they don't participate in giving out our unofficial score :( so I have to wait 2-3 weeks (maybe 4?). I will keep you updated. Like I said before, thank you so much for the info. I felt so bad not getting so many SATA's because I heard it means you're doing bad. I swear, every time I answered a question, I would hope for an SATA (I know, not normal lol). But after hearing you passed without getting so many SATA, I'm actually starting to have hope.

congrats nurse
