Passed Lifespan

I haven't posted here in a long long time. After a couple of set backs I finally took my first exam- Lifespan- and managed an "A"!

Yes it does.

do you have to take all your pre-req's? i need to take them all, and i started with a&p in december. i just finished NC1 and NC2 this week. i wanted to take all the nursing first so i can get on the waiting list for the cpne. i hope you do well!

what's your next course?

My next exam is NC1. I took Lifespan first just to see how the test were set up. The only pre-reqs I need to take is A&P, Micro, and Information Literacy. I'm going to take all the NC's first, also. How often do you test?

I have a Fundamental's of Nursing by Kozier that is the 4th edition and was wondering if this edition is too old. I'm thinking it is.

i took nc1 and 2 within 5 days of each other, but i studied them together for about 3 weeks. i have a sixth edition kozier. what i can tell you about nc1, is i would have done just fine if i would have read the relevant chapters in my NCLEX study guide. i kept reading to know adpie, etc, but my exam was some really obscure questions (maybe they were the experimental questions?)

i plan on taking at least one exam a month, i am working on nc3 now, and a lot of the material i am familiar with so i am hoping in about 3 weeks to test. i am not at all familiar with psych, so when i get to that exam i believe i will take a little longer. though i don't know how long it will take for excelsior to classify me as enrolled so i can register for nc3, its been a week since i sent my papers.

i also have to take micro, and humanities, and english. keep in touch! would be nice to hear from another student near the same point in their studies!

I'm also ashamed to admit that I have been enrolled for awhile and have just taken my first exam. I should have waited until after taking the first NC test. I got a little side tracked when I found out I was pregnant. My son is now 5 months old. So I hope to take 2-3 test before the end of June. The Status report I received in the mail after enrolling stated that I was exempt from NC2 since I was a LPN. I need to call and double check this because no one I've talked to has ever heard of this. hmmmm

Please keep in touch. I need all the support I can get. ha ha

i believe i read somewhere that LPN's are exempt from nc2 if they graduated within 5 years of an accredited school? i don't know if i remember that correctly though, so all the excelsior grads/students who are reading, please correct me if i am wrong!

congrats on your baby! i have a 4.5 year old and a 3 year old!

That's it. I graduated from LPN school July 2003. I have a 12 year old daughter and a 5 month old son. I believe in spacing children out. ha ha ha

What type of environment do you work? Clinic, hospital? I work Orthopedics in a local hospital.

That is correct. There are no accredited LPN programs in Tennessee so I was not exempt.

I passed Lifespan a week ago with an A. That was my last exam before the CPNE (besides the one hour online course you have to take). My status report online says "CPNE eligible" at the bottom. Can't wait.

Christy, i work in subacute rehab attached to LTC. it is considered med/surg experience by the hospital we are affiliated with, as we have a close relationship with them. i have worked there for four years. i have been a lpn for 9 years. lol, about the kids. i had mine close together, as i have lupus and my docs told me to have them as early as possible...now i am a single mom, and some days, it is very very hard just to function. my kids keep my motivation high to finish school and have some more options for me other than floor nursing.

LPNtoRN, thanks for clarifying that for me. congrats on finishing your exams! do you have a CPNE date yet? how long did it take you to finish your exams?
