Passed my HESI exit exam- Study Plan

Published

Hey all,

I passed my HESI exit exam after 5 attempts! I set up a study plan with my professor that really improved my score and got me up to 909. (850 is passing for us). If anyone wants to see it, let me know!

There's still around 30 girls who haven't passed out of my class. AWFUL!

Congratulations!

Congrats!!! I would really like to see your study plan!!

CoNgRatUlAtIoNs!!!!! I would like to see your study plan!! also did you happen to take versions 3 or 4 at any point and have any information on them?

Here was my study plan, that my professor helped me set up.

Take your most recent hesi results. Use the specialties page. Mark ALL scores under 850.

Determine how many days you have for studying. Split these topics into those days (usually 3-4 topics a day). Leave one day before the test to not even touch a book.

Each morning, do a 100 question test in EXAM mode on these 3-4 topics. Use Brunners/Saunders/Kaplan CD. Whichever one allows you to seperate into topics.

Read ONLY the question. Cover the answers. Read it until you know exactly what it is asking. Uncover the first answer. Write down "X" if you know it is not the answer. "Checkmark" if youre confident its the answer and "?" if you are unsure. Then go back and choose an answer between the checks and question marks. DO NOT RECONSIDER THE X's!

Expect 60-70% on these exams. They are your trouble areas, it makes sense!

Review the exam. EVERY QUESTION, even if you got it right. Have your books out. Review the rationales and strategies and research topics you are unsure about. Do each question as you get to it. Do not make a "study list" and go back later.

Also do a 50-75 question quiz in REVIEW MODE every day in topics you did well on. Do not ignore sections just because you got over 850.

There is no "amount of time" you should be studying. But I can tell you that following this plan I took about 4-5 hours/day.

I know this is an old post, but I really like the idea of writing either the x, check mark or question mark as you come to each answer. I've always struggled with the Hesi exams at the end of each course and am nervous for my upcoming exit Hesi in 2 weeks. I'm hoping this technique will help!

hey... what was your study plan?
