Glad to say it's over! Racine is a tough site. I had huge assignments and struggled with time management the entire weekend from the labs to the PCS's. I was in tears by the end of my second PCS on Saturday waiting for my paperwork to be returned. I was emotionally and physically drained. I believe half the battle is being put in a situation where you can't properly take care of yourself. Travel - anticipation of the labs - Labs until late on Friday - Up later on Friday worrying about care plans - not sleeping Friday into Saturday is the killer! You also don't want to eat, or at least I didn't. I was nauseated, dizzy and felt terrible!!
It is possible to do this exam and to do it without a workshop! I do recommend if you have problems with self esteem and confidence to seek some type of counseling. I wish I would have. I was able to pull myself together enough to perform, but really struggled with wondering if my assessment data was correct. I took 10 mg of Inderal each day and popped another 5 mg before my 2nd PCS on Saturday when I was assigned a very intimidating CE.
I will write an extensive journal later!
Thank you to everyone who has helped me on this site with my Excelsior journey!
Wow, I am going to Racine, WI in May. May 14,15,& 16th. I am as nervous as my dog about to get a bath! I cannot do a workshop. I have been online with Excellsior EPN and every website I can access for help. Anything you want to add except taking Inderall??? I know that Inderall has helped several nursing friends during stress, but I do not do well taking any medication.

I don't do well with medications either and am very sensitive! My BP also runs low. If I had to do it again, I would see about adding a low dose of Xanax. Practice taking them before you go!

Congrats! I love reading about all those who pass the CPNE. I just took and passed my first exam yesterday and I can't wait to be where your are! I look forward to reading your journal.
