i will try not to make this lengthy but here is my NCLEX-PN Summary- i tested 9/25/09
1. main review tools were Saunders " comprehensive reivew for the NCLEX PN" 4th edition, Kaplan 2010 book "just to know how to figure out how to answers those questions i didnt know! and "anybody up for random fact throwing thread " thank you all you little geniuses for the many neumonics you came up with.. so helpful! and i also took a couple of ATI quizzes.
2. study time.. roughly 2 hours a day for 3 weeks.. and maybe less than that, between, playstation, facebook and myspace, the study time may be a little shorter! LOL... and i was not about to over study.. just like i saw someone or many other people say before.... you have NO CLUE what the NCLEX is going to throw at you. So i was not about to kill myself to try to make sure i knew everything.. i studied the basic systems on my saunders cd (edocrine, gastro, cardio,Neuro) i also did ALOT or everything that had to do with fundamental and mental health nursing, (fundamentals came in handy for all those infection control an some priority questions i had). and of course lab values, and common drugs i have ran across on clinical rotations!
3. number of questions on NCLEX exam.. 85, too many sata's (select all that apply), drop and drag, and multiple choice.
4. My attitude on test day- " all well.. i know what i know, if i dont pass,,, all well.." why, i just never been a person to be nervous about a test, so going in with this mentality (WORKS FOR ME). this and jamming to my music before every test seems to keep the nerves at bay.
5. Pearson vue trick.. worked, got the "famous" pop up an hour after i tested!
6 and for all you ATI predictor people... my predictor score was 64 which equals an 84 percent chance of passing....
7. my advice.. know lab values, Know Maslow and his lovely heirarchy of human needs, the nursing process and read ALL RATIONALES as you do practice quizzes or test...in the end the NCLEX is still testing whether or not you can critically think (something NO ONE can teach you to do) also... I am a visual learner.. i like to see what i have to do.. and what i have noticed about MYSELF.. the more i see something the better it stays in my head.. and Saunders was good at some of this repetitive nature.
and thus that concludes my NCLEX Mission... God Bless others who are still on this very mission!

Took my test on 9/24/09..my test turned off at 85. NOT sure if thats good or bad? It was so much like the HESI exam. Now it's the 6 week wait for the results that's killing me!
i didnt take the hesi, so i wouldnt know the comparison. i guess you live in california or one of them other states... yall need to start some sort of petition to get the state board to participate in quick results.. i feel so sorry for you.. the anxiety like to kill me those two days. i had to wait... May God bless you.
Thanks.... I would LOVE to get my results in 2 days! Cali is sooooo far behind the times with this 6 week waiting game
yeah... just rediculous.. to say the state is short on revenue .. you would think they would want nurses to get to work as soon as possible so they can start putting taxes into the state. one day the idea will catch on.. i hope for all you cali people.
