has anyone applied to pasadena's rn program for fall 2013? has anyone been accepted into east pasadena's rn program? if so what was your pre-reqs grades? mines aren't all that great that's why i am so worried i will not get in because my pre-reqs gpa is only 2.79...do i even have a chance at getting in? please advise...so stressed out :( im not a bad student... i just don't have the time to study like im supposed to...i am a working full time single mother with two children and couldn't dedicate my time to so much studying...i was lucky if i even got 10 hours of studying a week

Hey everyone! I'm not going to PCC but I recommend getting all vaccinations in order NOW. You want to be ready to sign up for classes (maybe you get to even pick your clinicals!) That's how it is at my school anyway. You'll need a background check, TB test, proof of Hep B/TDAP/MMR vaccinations and your BLS card. Also a drug test but I think they want this two weeks before starting. They'll also probably require you to do a basic chem panel. Anyway, of all the things, I recommend getting your vaccination records and BLS card now. That way you only have a little do to rather than a long list of things. Just my two cents :)

Thanks! I made my appointment with PCC health services for the day of orientation! They said it would be okay to do the tb test with my doctor up here, so I requested an appt and hope to hear back soon :) I am taking my BLS on June 8th! Yay!

Woohoo! I have to get these things done ASAP and realized I do not have a record of all my vaccinations. Due to time restraints, I had to do titers for the vaccines but it would've been so much cheaper to contact my high school for all my records! Because I graduated sooo long ago, I'm assuming my school no longer has it and I would've had to go through the LAUSD district which would've taken FOREVER. So I just decided to have the titers done but it can be costly. That's why I suggest getting it all done now in case you have to research where the hell you got them done. Lol. So excited its all happening! :)

Hahaha!! Love it!:) Gosh, I hope there's cool people in my program at Pierce! (Why PCC? Why?!)

I know, I want to get started on all my requirements too! I think the 3 months back thing is pretty standard, and probably a good thing too. Make sure everyone is well and vaccinated before any clinicals.

Do you know what hospitals you're doing your clinicals at for Pasadena?

So are you going to Pierce or are you gonna wait to see what happens with Glendale? :)

I scheduled my TB appointments :D The first series will be done by orientation! Yay!

Good! That's the thing preventing me from registering because its a two part test (1-2 weeks apart). You're smart to get it done now! :)

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I decided on Pierce. I've gotten more info and heard positive feedback from current nursing students in the program, so I feel a lot better about it. It definitely sounds challenging, but overall sounds like they really try to prepare you.

Great!! Happy for you that you finally made your decision. Although I wish you and ShyeoftheTiger were going to Rio Hondo. Haha. You guys seem like really cool people! Light hearted and not so serious all the time. Yes, nursing is serious but it can also be fun :)

Thank you! Aww, that totally made my day! Likewise, it would have been great to be in an RN program together...but there's always the BSN and DNP! :)...and I agree with you, life is easier when you have fun and humor. I'm sure there will be other people in both of our programs who already have a bachelors as well and have been through the college thing...part of me is slightly worried most of my classmates will be coming from high school or a year or two out. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it was good to be in the same boat, I guess is what my point is.

Yeah! Maybe we'll all end up at CSULA for a BSN :D

And, we should go to each other's pinning ceremonies two years from now (unless they're all on the same day) :)

The school looks so nice (especially building for nursing). So different from the community colleges I've attended :)
