Pasadena City College RN program

U.S.A. California

Hi,

I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

got my acceptance letter to career-ladder @PCC, but am all confused with the Teas test, does it mean as long as i get above 62% , i get to secure my seat officially?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure how the TEAS factors in for PCC. I thought it was given after you were accepted, but maybe that's just for the regular RN program.

If you score below a 62%, you have to complete a remediation plan before you can start the program. At least that's what I think they mean.

gud luck everyone, i know this is a trying moment- the waiting is a killer but have faith. i got accepted both at PCC and rio hondo for fall 2011. still waiting for LA county. am hoping county will accept me as that was my first choice. anyone have an idea which is a better choice county or PCC?

Hello,

I was wondering if you got an acceptance letter or email? I haven't heard from them yet.

@ ciela. got an email. there orientation is tomorrow Apr 20th.

Was the orientation for all Fall 2011 students, or just LVN-RN students? I called PCC on April 8th and I was told they weren't making decisions for the straight RN program until May. Hope I didn't miss the boat. =(

Hi snookiejc. I don't think that the straight RN applicant have heard yet. Also--I think that last year they didn't hear until June, even thought they said May. I'm not sure why, though. I am hoping that was just last year and that this year they'll be able to tell people sooner.

Ok, thanks so much for the information. Yes, I read that it took until June last year... that bites. I'm with you... hope that was a one time thing! Have you applied anywhere else?

yes...I've applied and got into another program and it's a BSN program. I'm happy to have gotten in, but I'm actually still considering PCC b/c it's a much better location for me and a better time frame. I'd plan to continue with a bridge program to get my BSN. We'll see....I haven't decided yet, and can't really, until we hear from PCC!

Hey! When is the next application time for PCC?

@mint4321 - you should take the BSN route, as New RN grads don't a get job easily. Having your BSN, will be a plus. And you could save more too.
