  1. Thanks, doggymama23. Good to know I didn't just dream that. I was going to register for it but then waited when I heard we needed an id #. Going to try to register for it online today and see what happens.
  2. Hey guys. Quick question---were y'all under the impression that we could take epidemiology this summer BEFORE we start the rest of our classes, so that we could get it out of the way? (I realize this would only apply to the fall cohort students). I thought that's what I heard at the meeting back in the fall for applying students but when I talked to them today, they seemed to know nothing about this and said that the epid is only taken the last semester. I'd LOVE to get it out of the way, though. Am I remembering incorrectly?
  3. didn't get mine either. thanks for the heads up!
  4. I applied to CSUN's accelerated BSN program for a 2nd Bachelors. I've taken all of my pre-reqs so I'd be ready to start. If I go the PCC route, I'd still have to take a history class and nutrition. --another reason I'm leaning towards CSUN.
  5. Hi Christina10483. It seems like a pretty clear answer to me. I'd stick with OU. --Esp since it's close to your family and you already have housing taken care of. Also--something you may want to think about: Texas has some pretty amazing medical centers. It's a good place to be if you are in the medical field. Obviously, LA has some great hospitals too, but jobs for new grads are scarce. LA is awesome but sounds like you have things lined up pretty well down there. :)
  6. I'm def considering that, although I'm also considering the fact that one of the main things that hospitals/employers look for with new grads is paid experience. At PCC I could keep up my volunteering at the hospitals i'm at and possibly even work as a CNA (the BSN program I got into is an accelerated program.. That could feed right into a job when I graduate and then i'd continue with on online ADN-BSN. But when all is said and done, that's not guaranteed either, so I am leaning towards the accelerated program.
  7. yes...I've applied and got into another program and it's a BSN program. I'm happy to have gotten in, but I'm actually still considering PCC b/c it's a much better location for me and a better time frame. I'd plan to continue with a bridge program to get my BSN. We'll see....I haven't decided yet, and can't really, until we hear from PCC!
  8. Hi snookiejc. I don't think that the straight RN applicant have heard yet. Also--I think that last year they didn't hear until June, even thought they said May. I'm not sure why, though. I am hoping that was just last year and that this year they'll be able to tell people sooner.
  9. no orientation packet. Has anyone who has RSVPed for the Basic Life Support class know what time it is at on that Wednesday?
  10. re: living arrangements...I am planning to stay where I am, although I'm worried about the commute. I love where I live and it definitely would not be worth moving, but my commute would probably be 30-40 min with no traffic. yikes. But I know what you mean about needing a stress free environment...I think that's extremely important when in a program like this one.
  11. Wow. Thanks perseveRaNce23. Nice explanation. I had heard about this no help but federal loans, but the rest of the details are great to know. And no, I haven't gotten my orientation packet either. I believe they are supposed to be emailed (?) this week sometime. Hope it's soon!
  12. Hi busybee. I am also eager for more info so I'm hoping we'll get everything we need to know in the email packet!
  13. Fall. I need the summer to get things in order.
  14. ---- said that the packets are still being reviewed and "will hopefully be sent out in a week". (As of an email response 4/18).
  15. Yes, thanks, perseveRaNce23. We appreciate your input.
