Pasadena City College (PCC) Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys, I just turned in my application for PCC today and I wanted to start a thread to see who else applied. Share stats, questions, etc... on here :)

I was reading old threads from previous years and some of them said they called alternates super last minute, as in the day that classes started. I'm not sure if they will be doing that this year, but that sucks if they are just going to leave spots open. Why even have an alternate list? Ugh.

Not just an alternate list, but it seems to be a rather LONG alternate list.

Yeah, one of the threads said they pick 100 alternates, another said 40.

I would think 40, 100 makes no sense. That's the bad thing of not informing prospective students applying to the program, it leaves us stir crazy trying to figure out their methods, and word from another often gets twisted. And it would be super unfair to let them know last minute. Many of us have jobs, and that wouldn't be enough time to talk to our employers. They should give us enough time to register, and give accepted students a tighter deadline. Because it leaves room for last minute drop out that will probably won't get filled. I hope we all have better luck next semester.

I feel like their goal is to speed up the process starting next semester by making us submit a page with corse description for the prerequisites. Other schools let you know much sooner than PCC, but that's probably because they require you to have your prerequisites evaluated prior to applying. This should give them more time to move through the alternate list and give them adequate time to get the paperwork done.

It is unfortunate because this class, if it starts with 29, will probably only graduate 20-25 people. I know I would have loved a shot, as I'm sure most of you would have as well. SPRING 2019, right?!

You would think PCC is clear-cut about their selection methods, but unfortunately they're not. I would suggest you to apply to other programs. The RN program at PCC is not as great as it used to be. We just had very last minute schedule changes that affects a majority of us, but we have to put up with it.

There will be an additional 20 LVNs added to the cohort during the 3rd semester of the RN program. A possible answer to "why is there only 29 people in the class?" is simple - limited clinical space. The director would love a full cohort, but only so many hospitals are still accepting ADN student nurses for rotations.

I haven't read a good review of the program on here. Is it really that bad?

Hi Everyone, I have a few questions in regards to application. I am applying for this upcoming lvn to rn application due date at PCC. I have been trying to get a hold of the nursing program dept. However, it's seems to always be on voicemail . I wanted know in regards to the ATI teas, did you guys just print out a report with of course the Individual Score from the website, or do you actually have to have the official ATI teas transcript? Also, in regards to being an LVN. I do not have the copy of the license since they do not give out the License anymore. Will printing out my license information from the breeze.ca.com be valid? And also, do you have to have a letter from work in regards to LVN work hours? as I know some people provided that letter but im not sure if it is actually required since it does not state on their website. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank youu
