Pasadena city college nursing school

Published

I was looking at the PCC nursing school brochure and it said that upon acceptance of nursing school, they take the grade point average of the required prerequisite courses only. Does this mean that every other class that I took and received a grade for has no effect on their decision to accept me or not? Thank you very much

I think they only use the required prerequisite courses to calculate your GPA, and then use this information, along with how many withdrawals you have in science courses, to determine who gets accepted or not. However, I've also heard that they used to use a lottery system before. I'm not sure if that's still true so if anyone can clarify this, that'd be great. Thanks in advance!

BTW, does anyone know if there's a waitlist to the program? I applied this Spring but if I get accepted, will it be for Fall 2009 or later semesters? And for those who were recently accepted into the program, do you have to have straight A's to get in? Thanks! I tried looking for admission stats online but they didn't have any posted.

Do you guys know when they send out acceptance letters for the fall 09 program. I applied and had my math 125 class in progress when I applied. I'm wondering if that's reason enough to discard me from the list. My pre-requisite's GPA is 3.5 and don't have any W's. Do you think I have a chance of getting in?

I also applied for their fall program and when I asked, they said because they had so many applicants, they would send out letters in June. Also, I don't think you can apply with any of the pre-req classes "in progress", so I'm not sure about your math course. But we shall see soon. Hopefully they send out letters by next week!

i got into the nursing program at pcc in 2008 with a gpa of 3.5ish. i didn't have straight As. my B was in microbio and in anatomy and i had As in all the other prereqs. i was waitlisted... my name was like the first name on the waitlist and someone dropped and i got in. so yes, there is a wait list. i don't think there are admission stats but you can ask. all i know is that when i applied there's a lottery of about 300 students and only 60 people are taken. could be different now. you applied in april? so you'll be getting in fall 09. good luck!

Hi Chenny, Please let me know if you get an acceptance letter. I had heard before that as long as it is not one of the core pre-req's in progress I still had a chance of getting in. I'll also keep you posted when I get my denial or hopefully acceptance letter. Best of luck!

To all who applied to PCC's nursing program, I received my acceptance letter in today's mail .

Good luck to everyone who applied!!!!!!

Congratulations LiLo!!! I guess this is not going to be my lucky term.

i heard that students started receiving their PCC letters of acceptance or "alternate-list" monday in the mail. we had a friend that received her letter of acceptance today and one that received the alternate letter monday. =/ my other friend and i are so nervous!!! does anyone know if this is true: someone said that around 400 students applied this time for the RN program. thats worse than the 300 that mashamontago was saying there was when they were there. geez....this is so stressfull just waiting. i already got on the waiting list at Cerritos.

congrats on your acceptance, if you dont mind sharing your prereq. overall GPA? I also applied, so Im patiently waiting. Its even more intense now b/c people are starting to get their letters. For those who didnt get in, do you guys happen to know what was the cut off for the GPA? Any response is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
