Pasadena City College Fall 2017

Published

I was wondering if anyone applied there. I also applied to:

CSUEB

Los Angeles Pierce

Los Angeles Valley (once their apps open on April 11th maybe)

LA county Allied health

COC (I really doubt I get in because I did 2 attempts on the teas)

Glendale Community college

STATS:

OVERALL SCIENCE GPA (3.33)

OVERALL GPA (3.56)

TEAS VI: 72.7%

I know it's early, but I want an early start. I just need to get into a nursing program before my pre-req expire :/ My best bet so far for me is Allied health, GCC, Pasadena, and maybe Pierce

It wasn't required in the past for bachelor degree holders. Starting Spring 2018 it is required for everybody. They updated their website to reflect this.

I had a high 80s low 90s score on my app and I haven't received any type of email which means there's a very good chance I didn't get in... I don't understand these selection processes

I have a Bachelor's Degree, took a TEAS regardless and got 83.3% score, Prerequisite GPA: 3.8, cumulative GPA: 3.7; extra points here and there for proficiency in another language, need to work and so on. I got an email today morning that I was selected as an alternate.

I just got an email for an alternate spot which makes my theory incorrect...

Maybe they're trying to diversify the cohort? I was told a majority of the cohort are bachelor degree holders. PCC has 40 spots with 300+ applicants each cycle. If they were to select the top 40 people based on points then 90% of them would have a BS/BA. They do have a new director so this might be her idea?

Scratch that, just got the alternate email

Did you guys have healthcare/volunteer experience? I have a feeling they select based on grouping of applicants. i.e. BS/BA degree holders vs AS/AA degree holders vs no degree etc. They take the top of those categories or whatever category they have.

ImTooNice what did your points look like? I counted mine I should be in low 80s and havent received any email still =(

Also to answer your post above, I have BA, volunteering experience, first generation, 2nd language proefficient however I didn't take the TEAS as other people did

I keep checking my email and still nothing :/

I should have 78 points.

Don't give up hope of you are a alternate. I'm assuming due to the late notifications a lot of people will turn down their spots.

Start reviewing NCLEX questions :-)

Weird. You're highly qualified yet you're an alternate. It makes no sense :/

Youre telling me, I've already been rejected by a couple other programs. Never get my hopes up too high anymore. The only thing I can really think of is that I turned in my app a day or two before the deadline.
