Pasadena City College ADN Fall 2023

Published

Hey Everyone! Just thought I'd make a thread for PCC's Fall 2023 ADN applicants. This is my first time applying and applications open up the week of April 1 - April 15. I have also applied to other schools like College of the Canyons, Pierce College, Glendale College, Antelope Valley College, Butte College. I wish everyone the best of luck!

I haven't received a response either. 75 points here. It would be pretty amazing if I got accepted but I know it's highly unlikely.

Yeah, when I saw Exxtol receive a rejection with an 84 score my heart sank.

You got this! Next application cycles and other schools. We just gotta keep moving.

I received a rejection with 80 points. This was my first time applying too. I wish everyone the best of luck! I've applied to 8 schools and unfortunately received a rejection from each.

Ready to do it again in a couple of weeks. ?

They called me to offer me a spot. (!!) 85 points. I'm torn and would have to send the commitment form by tomorrow morning. I would have easily chosen PCC before but ELAC is so organized and their pass rate just increased to 85%. PCC seems not so organized in comparison.

I would choose closer location. For me I had no option to choose so I accepted offer from PCC. I think most of ADN program will be similar. Since our eventual goal is to pass NCLEX and be a nurse, all the program is designed for training students for NCLEX.

Congrats!! I would decide based on convenience and costs, etc. In all honesty, I'd go to PCC in a heartbeat only because it's a last resort and I've been rejected everywhere else (in California at least). I've heard very good things about ELAC. I am a bit worried as PCC does seem very disorganized (late acceptances and a lack of overall communication).

I second this. Choosing the easier commute to class/labs means a lot in a city like LA.

Sorry to hear that but it's awesome you're headed for an ABSN. I had strongly considered moving to Maine for an ABSN program myself. Best of luck with everything.

Thanks! They gave me a scholarship and I wanted to get get a change of pace. Also, thought it would be easier to get a job after class. Plan on moving back to LA area though. Good luck to you as well!

I'm really confused by all this. I have a 90, and I got rejected. Now I'm wondering if my application even went through, but they've never emailed me to ask for more info.

Did you get a confirmation email when you sent your application?  The only things I can think of is that either the application was incorrectly completed OR they put your name is a lotto bc there were many similar scores, which is what they said they would do if there were many scores in the similar range.

Just FYI, the NCLEX score is completely dependent on you and you alone because you're taking the exam so I wouldn't put that much merit on that percent. Plus, the organization of their admin is difficult to say about organization because that's just on their end and we don't know what was going on.

I did. I guess I don't understand their lotto rules. They've only mentioned their points system and how they will select based on that. The application form is terrible at best.

From what I read, if they have a large amount of people applying with around the same amount of points, they'll lotto their names after they select the initial acceptance group? I'm not 100% sure, it's hard to say bc they never told us the specifics. The only other thing I can think of is there was an error on the app. They said that that's one of the ways that they rule people out, with mistakes on the app. If you want to be certain, it doesn't hurt to reach out to them and see what the issue was.
