Partner/Unpartnered?

This is a silly question. Use your noggin. Why on earth would that matter?

That's the first time that I've heard this. Did the hospital ask you about your marital status???

In regards to being partnered, it has nothing to do with your marital status or significant other... it is in reference to working at a "Partnered" hospital. This is only applicable to the AP-BSN, aka Academic PARTNERSHIP BSN, program.

For some clinical sites, yes, it does matter. However, I was not partnered with any hospital and got my 2nd choice when I ranked my clinical sites.

No they did not ask me. However, it isn't fair that partnered employees get priority over the unemployed.

Carys... It's the facilities deal, not UTA's... there is at least one partnered hospital that will only allow the students to do their clinicals there if they are also employees... I believe it is because they are paying for their employees' degree. I didn't fall into that category, so I didn't try to get more info, but luckily that wasn't the norm, but rather the exception. However, it does affect the selection process some when it comes to accepting students into the program. But, as I can attest, it wasn't a deal breaker. There are other ways you can make yourself more competitive when applying. It is an extremely competitive program to get into, but tuition at UTA is worlds better than other places where it might be easier to get accepted to (**cough**cough**WestCoastUniversity**cough**).

I think working at a partnered hospital helped me get in. When I told my manager I was applying at UTA she gave me a code to call and give to them so that they knew I was with a partnered hospital. They did ask me what location I worked at and who my manager was. I think you do get some priority for working at a partner. Now, I also had a high GPA as well so I was not accepted solely based on my employer. Since I work at a partnered hospital I end up precepting some of the UTA students so I guess I see it as more of a trade off. Also, keep in mind that it's not as if every nurse at a partnered hospital is going to UTA. I'm the only one in my department. Anyway, good luck getting in.
