I am interested to learn how small hospitals around the US handle wound care. If your facility is not approved for a full FTE related to wound care, how do you develop this role and important aspect into nursing care? Do you have a part time wound care nurse?

Wound care is in the normal scope of practice for RNs no one person dedicated to this aspect of nursing is required in smaller or larger facilities.

Are you referring to a WOCN position? If so, you might have been more specific in your post as I read it, and would have answered the same as @hppygr8ful.
Is this perhaps a research prodgect for school. If it is you could have said so at the beginning. We might still be able to give you good answers and insight if you care to rephrase your question.

When I had a wound dehisence post abdominal surgery, my local small hospital utilized a wound certified Physical Therapist to initiate wound vac and perform wound care dressing changes, as PT can perform debridement under Therapist regs in PA. No WOCN on staff, staff RN's changed only simple dressings. They only worked M-W-F.
