Parkland SICU Residency opened on April 29, 2014!!!
Good luck to all! SICU is a great unit and I spent many, happy years there!!
hey wanger2525, i heard from of one of my FB friends that interviews are this wednesday-friday. I don't know if that fits but if interviews are 10-15 minutes each over 3 days with breaks does that meet the 60 you are talking about?
Well I got the interview schedule and got to pick one. I counted the amount of available slots and I got 60. Not sure if they are gonna use up all of the slots but just wanted to know if anyone can help me confirm anything. And someone mentioned that they are only taking 4. I'm nervous and just wanted to know for sure if anyone could help me with some details then I would greatly appreciate it.
I did my Capstone in SICU and talked with one of the managers, she told me that the residency would be small, probably about 4 spots....this was in April. This was because they had hired so many for the previous residency. It's possible something has changed between now and then, but I doubt it from the way they were talking. As for interview slots, not sure how many... I was only given times on Wed to choose from... Hope this helps!
MissRN, BSN is the one that is currently on staff in SICU. Her posts are on this thread and what she is saying is exactly how I remember SICU to be. Doesn't appear to have changed over the years. Again, look through the threads of the ER and SICU and you will see the open ended questions they are going to ask (what are your strengths/weaknesses, how do you handle conflict, give an example, how do you handle stress, what do you know about working in SICU, what do you know about parkland, what do you know about the patient population, why should we hire you). These are some of those questions. I had some with the ER and it appears some of these will be used in SICU. Good luck wanger2525. check out MissRN, BSN' s posts. They are looking for those that are persistent. Hope to hear good news from you next week!
