Parkland Residency's for January 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Hi guys!

I just wanted to start a thread for everyone applying for the January residency's at Parkland so we can keep each other updated on progress. I've been told that they take their time in getting back to people and the process is slow! I applied to the ER and MICU last weekend and haven't heard anything yet. What specialty areas have you guys applied to and have you been contacted yet?

I hadn't heard a word and I believe I interviewed before you. Doesn't look like this is it for me, maybe next time! Good luck to everyone else! :)

When did you interview? The recruiter says they are still interviewing. Don't worry and don't give up. The first time I applied in Jan2012, I didn't get it either. Just keep the faith.

Monday 11/19. From my understanding, interviews for the ER were completed that week. We'll see, if it doesn't happen, then it just wasn't meant for me at this time. I'm just thankful to have a job.

The recruiter told me that they are still going on. So, who knows? And yes, I was thankful to have gotten an ER job at another Level I when Parkland didnt accept me the first time. Don't worry, I'll pray for you that you end up where you need to be!

Thanks, I appreciate that. Congrats again and keep us all updated on any new news.

I never stopped to think that things may be different for me because they have to go through my manager, consider my current unit staffing, etc. hopefully that's the hold up! Lol

haha See TeeJaazi, just breathe and KEEEEP the faith! You never know since you're an internal, it might be different, more paperwork, all that. Lol. Crazy! Fingers Crossed!!

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone who will be participating in the NNICU Residency knows anything about how the schedule will work during the 20 week internship. I know that we will alternate between classroom time and clinical time, but was not sure how the class room days would work. Will we be in class Monday-Friday 8-5?? I am trying to figure out where to look to live, and how often i will be driving to and from will greatly affect my decision. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hope all is well.

Does anybody know if the pay is increased for experienced RNs? I'm coming from another Level I trauma facility, in the ER, and I'm just curious about pay? I know what the base is, but I am wondering does that change for a year of experience. I have had several other offers in the metroplex, and I am trying to seriously consider and weigh my options. Also, I'm in school as well, and plan on taking a semester off to compelete the residency, but as far as scheduling goes when the residency is completed, is everyone required to the rotating, or do they offer self scheduling as well? I've heard both. And with rotating, I mean for example work M,T, off WTH, work FSS, off MT, work WTH, off FSS, and so forth. I am just trying to decide what shift would be ideal for that type of scheduling, so I can enroll back in school in the fall. Thanks for any help. I'm asking all of this because Parkland is a hospital I really want to work for, but I have other things going on in my life as well, and want to be able to juggle and balance both.
