Hi all, I wanted to start a thread for those who have applied to the Parkland new grad residencies starting in January/February 2016. So far they have posted positions for L&D, NICU, ER, and med-surg. Feel free to share any progress on interviews, ask questions, etc.

* oops, they got offers from MICU and ER, not SICU

I only interviewed with the SICU. Has anyone heard anything after the interviews last week? I am freaking out a bit. thanks

When I interviewed for burns they said they are hiring for 2-3 spots, but I don't know how many people we are competing with.

I also interviewed for SICU and haven't heard anything from there either, but I think they are hiring 8 out of the 75-80 people they interviewed. Fingers crossed!

Never heard anything from Burn ICU, but I accepted an offer for SICU on Saturday! Good luck everyone!

Congrats on the offer to the SICU. I still have not heard anything but my friend also got an offer Saturday. Do you have previous experience?

Yes, I was a tech on a med surg floor for a year and then a nurse extern in an ICU for a year and a half during school. They didn't really seem to care about that, but they liked that I did my senior capstone overnights in another SICU. I really think they were looking for a good fit more than anything. We spent a lot more time talking about the questions they asked then my experience.

Hi Pookers, I accepted a SICU Residency position as well. I'm relocating to Dallas. Are you a native? Does anyone have any advice about where to live? I've been looking around Oak Lawn and Lower Greenville. I'd love to meet people I'll be working with!

Hey, congrats! Yes I guess I am a native, been here more than 10 years now. Oak Lawn is great and close, I used to live there. Lower Greenville is good too especially if you like the club scene... theres also the Bishop Arts district, Lakewood, and Deep Ellum depending on what you're looking for.

Have you heard anything from them since the email offering the position? I'm still waiting on an official offer letter or orientation info or SOMEthing... I guess the holidays are holding things up?

Hey! I haven't heard anything. I emailed and called with messages telling them that I need an official offer in order to make living arrangements. I am pretty laid back but the lack of info is not sitting well. I'm glad you are in the same boat. I was starting to worry maybe I didn't really have a job...
