Hello everyone!
I created this thread for those who are interested or applying to the residency program at Parkland for the summer 2020. I'm hoping this thread is helpful for those wanting to talk and ask questions. Good luck to everyone!

Yeah I understand why residency programs are logistically complicated during this time. However, I hope there is a way to continue the classes online. I don't see how close physical contact between nurses could ever be prevented, though-through preceptorship or not. We are constantly interacting in close quarters and helping each other out anyway. I get why PPE would be an issue, especially in certain units.
I agree that it seems COVID will continue quite awhile... I don't see it being COMPLETELY dead until there is herd immunity (whether by vaccination or majority of population being infected)-possibly for a year or more. I hope residency programs are able to pick up well before then...
Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I'll check in with Parkland.
