I created this thread for those who applied to the Parkland Dallas Nurse Residency program for this upcoming February 2023 cohort. Feel free to ask questions, advice and share your experiences!
Good luck to us all!
Parkland is $30/hr + 5k sign-on bonus (18month contract). IDK if it’s different for every unit, but neuro ICU doesn’t work every other weekend. You work 3 weekend days/nights per month, so you can knock it all in one weekend if you wanted.
If you were offered a position, you should have been given all that info.
@NursingTx2022 they both offer really similar pay and benefits to start out. Parkland will stay on the lower end of pay though as you move on up most likely. I think at this point it’s about what’s more important to you as far what kind of experience you want to have. Your populations will be very different between the two you mentioned. I’ve been told over and over that Parkland is a great place to start your nursing career. It might be rough, but you don’t have to stay forever.

So I asked around for more details about the differentials at THR and it’s the following…
Weekday evening: $3.75
nights: $4.50
weekend days/evening: $9
weekend nights: $10.25
critical shift: $15

I am interested in OR and was wondering whether I should apply.
I would definitely apply if you are interested!! A lot of positions are getting filled fast, especially specialties. I scheduled one but canceled yesterday because I accepted an L&D position!

Yikes every other weekend & set days sounds really rough! One of the perks of nursing for me is the flexibility. I’ve heard Parkland has different shift differentials depending on evenings vs night but I’m not 100% sure
