U.S.A. Texas

*Hey guys! Just wondering if any of you new grads/rns trying to break into a new specialty who have been interviewing for the June 2012 Parkland Residency have heard any news? I know there is a zillion applicants interviewing and I wanna see if anyone has heard anything...also if my dream comes true and I'm selected to make some new friends as I am new to texas and have had 2 interviews for the Residency thus far and would love to connect with my fellow nurses here! I have interviewed for 2 different spots and I know they said it would take a couple weeks or possibly till April to hear anything..I am on pins and needles! Lets keep eachother posted :)! Good luck to everyone!

Still nothing... and no one at my school who has applied has heard anything, either!

I couldn't imagine still waiting- I am praying for all of you guys!!!!!!!

**UPDATE** Parkland L&D Residency June 2012

I called the recruiter today and she told me that several people turned down the residency for L&D, so they are sorting through an alternates list. It makes me sad to know that I wasn't picked, I really wanted Parkland because I eventually plan to become a CNM. I was willing to drive over an hour each way just to work at Parkland. However, rejection emails have not been sent because they are still sorting through alternates. Hopefully I at least made that list...

so what does that mean for someone who has interviewed but has heard nothing yet? I guess that isnt looking too good! well I just would like to know either way so I can proceed with my life...it isnt fun waiting....

OK guys, i have a quick question, i applied to the parkland program starting in September, i never did get into the on in June, so im hoping to get in the one coming up. Does anyone happen to know the contact of any recruiter that i might call, any info would be great.

omotzury- have you tried calling Parkland? Also, have you ever attended an Open House? I went in the Spring. I HIGHLY recommend you attend one. I believe they are usually held in the spring.

I have, i tried to call several times and they always told me that applicants are not allowed to talk to the recruiters, and that this might hurt my chances rather than help. They said to just wait and until one gets a call from the recruiter and i have not heard anything so far.

Weird. I thought this was only for hiring MANAGERS, not recruiters. I was told by a couple employees to contact the hiring recruiters.

Have you seen the thread for Parkland SICU September 2012? Search it. We are all waiting! Stinks, but I have heard Parkland does take time to hire.

omotzury-calling the recruiters won't help. i called them tiredlessly about my numerous applications and they just kept telling me to check my email. Thankfully I finally got called in for an interview out of the 20+ applications that i put in. For the ED residency, they are interviewing from the 7th to the 13th of this month. hopefully you hear back soon. It is ridiculously hard to get through the invisible wall around the recruiters. keep trying.. my interview is on tuesday and i am so nervous.. i feel like this is my one chance to get in... definitely appreciate prayers right now

I was emailed on Saturday that I was selected to interview this week. I am flying in from Rhode Island on Wednesday and leaving on Thursday. I provided times that I would be available for those two days but have not received an email confirming my time. I'm starting to freak out a little because my ticket is booked. When did you receive the email confirming your interview for Tuesday?

RNGoldie- My recruiter let me know the same day that she emailed me about the selection. she emailed me early in the morning to let me know about the selection then she confirmed the time with me later on that day. If you are flying in from Rhode Island, you might want to ask if you can schedule your math medication exam for the same day so you can get it over with. Also, be prepared to be at parkland well past your interview time, i was there an hour past my scheduled time because they were "backed up". The alloted time to finish the math exam is 1.5 hours but it probably won't take that long.. its only 40 questions. Good Luck

How did your interview go? Was it exactly 15 minutes? How many questions did they get to ask in that 15 mins? Thanks!

rosern1- I'm not sure if it was exactly 15 minutes for mine or not there wasn't a clock in there and frankly i was too daggum excited to finally get in there. The other people that went before me definitely only got 15 minutes. I think mine took longer because i was there for a longer time and got skipped over twice and had to remind them i was also there to interview:rolleyes: They did not ask me too many questions though. I was asked like 3-4 questions and then i asked questions about the schedule of the rotation, how the staff like it and stuff like that. I was asked to "sell myself" though. it was a panel interview but the staff was super nice. I made sure it flowed like a regular conversation and was told " i should be hearing back before the 20th, but if i didn't to call my recruiter". so i'm kinda hoping that was a hint i was in. Anyhow.. Good luck :)
