Just wanted to let ya'll know Parkland has posted the ER residency for July 2014 if anyone is interested. :)

very cool! live in anna and actually, nursing was my FIRST career. I was in the SICU at parkland for 2 years as staff nurse and then again later as the asst unit manager in SICU for 5 years, so i am very familiar with "the lands"! Got my NREMT from the law enforcement job for the last 6 years-tactical EMT.

lol, i am a newbie for ER, so it will be a learning curve for me as the next person. I hope it will help but i know i have a lot to learn and will be watching/listening/doing to get better.

hey viper3bee! Just now catching up with these. Like TWU80 said, I'm taking the NCLEX in about 3 weeks..any advice you can give is much appreciated :)

MV...one thing I will say about NCLEX is do not get wrapped up in other people's experiences (in other words, don't let your friends worry you based on their exams). I would say spend time every day looking and your areas of weakness and then just do practice questions until you can't stand it anymore. You will probably never feel ready and that's okay. Just relax and go for it! Good luck!

MV...also...practice lots of "alternate format" questions. I had a TON of multiple choice!

Hey All!! I was just offered a spot in the ER Residency!! My dilemma is that I accepted a med/Surg position with UTSW and now I'm questioning which would be a better experience. The utsw contract is 2 yrs vs. 3 at Parkland...I previously worked at Parkland and always wanted to come back as a nurse. I know ER will be challenging and fast-paced which is my type of environment...I had gotten used to the idea that I was not going to be selected (since I hadn't heard either way), so I was preparing myself for UT. Now I'm confused!! Lol! Any advice, thoughts??

After chatting with some more experienced nurse friends, I am going to accept the ER Residency!! I'm so excited:)! See y'all there!

very cool dfwnurse2be! congrats! the three years does not start until AFTER we finish (november 18, 2014-november 17, 2017)! so far, it has been you, myself, viper and MV in the ER residency.

Yea, I know it actually ends up being longer than 3 yrs...UTSW was the same way:). Excited to get started!

we will all be together for a long time! myself and MV are on FB if you want to find us. But we will see you on July 21st along with the SICU residents. I know we have classes together initially but we get separated for unit specific items. I was told by one the managers that the new parkland's ER is already too small for the volume they are experiencing.
