Parkland Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship Summer 2020

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello everyone!

I created this thread for those who are interested or applying to the Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship at Parkland for the Summer 2020. I'm hoping this thread is helpful for those wanting to talk and ask questions. Good luck to everyone!

I got a phone call!

Got a phone call on Wednesday as well

I haven't heard back yet. Hoping I'm just on an alternate list after everyone responds to the first round of offers since I haven't been officially rejected yet. CONGRATS to everyone who received an offer!

I got an email stating I’m an alternate if someone chooses not to accept their spot. For those who received an offer did they give you a specific date to respond by? When I asked the recruiter she said anytime until the program starts in August. Just trying to be realistic about my chances of getting a spot

I received an offer late March, but turned it down for a different position at a different hospital. It was a hard decision, but I know there are plenty of people that deserve the spot! Goodluck to you guys, and CONGRATS to those who have accepted!

I interviewed last week on 3/26 and received an offer on Wednesday (4/1)!! Good luck to everyone!

Does anyone from the Dallas area have recommendations for housing? ?

Hi! I accepted a job for Parkland's mother-baby residency, but I currently live in the medical district (I can literally see Parkland from my window). I will say it can be very pricy in this area, as most of the apartments are new/luxury. It also isn't the safest area, especially at night in my opinion. I actually plan on moving back with my parents in a Dallas suburb to save money. However, if you want to stay closer to Parkland, the Las Colinas area is also pretty nice and about 15 minutes down the highway. If you dont mind a commute, definitely broaden your search into the suburbs such as Carrollton/Addison, Lewisville, Grapevine, Richardson!

Hey! I’m also starting the program in the fall. I made us a FB page to get to know each other! It’s called Parkland Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Residency 2020. Hope to see you guys there!!

Specializes in Nursing assistant in cardiac med/surg, PACU/pre-op.

Hello, hoping someone sees this -

I was hoping to apply for this program for the fall of 2021 but cannot find any information online for the program. I've emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) and (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME). How did you all find the application information for this program?

I am a little late to this, but I have a question. I was looking at the nurse residency charts with the different specialties, how long the training is, and how frequently they occur. What does the commitment section mean? I understand the years part, but what is the $10,000 and $20,000? Is that how much we would be paid as residents? Sorry if this is a silly question.

@megancuzzo I think that refers to the penalty for breaking the 3 year contract early. If you break the contract in the first two years the penalty is $20,000, and in the last year it is $10,000!

@cdruck Last year the application opened in February I think
