Hello everyone!
I created this thread for those who are interested or applying to the Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship at Parkland for the Summer 2020. I'm hoping this thread is helpful for those wanting to talk and ask questions. Good luck to everyone!
I got an email stating I’m an alternate if someone chooses not to accept their spot. For those who received an offer did they give you a specific date to respond by? When I asked the recruiter she said anytime until the program starts in August. Just trying to be realistic about my chances of getting a spot

Does anyone from the Dallas area have recommendations for housing? ?
Hi! I accepted a job for Parkland's mother-baby residency, but I currently live in the medical district (I can literally see Parkland from my window). I will say it can be very pricy in this area, as most of the apartments are new/luxury. It also isn't the safest area, especially at night in my opinion. I actually plan on moving back with my parents in a Dallas suburb to save money. However, if you want to stay closer to Parkland, the Las Colinas area is also pretty nice and about 15 minutes down the highway. If you dont mind a commute, definitely broaden your search into the suburbs such as Carrollton/Addison, Lewisville, Grapevine, Richardson!
I am a little late to this, but I have a question. I was looking at the nurse residency charts with the different specialties, how long the training is, and how frequently they occur. What does the commitment section mean? I understand the years part, but what is the $10,000 and $20,000? Is that how much we would be paid as residents? Sorry if this is a silly question.
@megancuzzo I think that refers to the penalty for breaking the 3 year contract early. If you break the contract in the first two years the penalty is $20,000, and in the last year it is $10,000!
