Parents.....URRGGHHH

Published

Okay so I leave in July for OBLC and then PCS to Fort Bragg. I finally told my mother and now she isn't talking to me at all. She is really upset, and I feel terrible. I am the only child and only grandchild, so of course she pulls this card. I am now really frustrated, because she should be happy for me, but instead all she keeps saying is that we are in a War. She won't even listen to my side of things. :crying2: My mother and I are really close, and this is the worst feeling ever. Has anyone else experienced this or had to tell there parents?

Glad to here things are working out for you and your mother. As other posters have stated she is just concerned about you. As a parent of child you are of the age to join the military I can understand her concern even thou I am on active duty.

Jeck, you got me thinking...I'm very pro-military, I think the military is a great experience for anyone - but if it were my KID, I don't know if I'd advocate so hard!

I guess you guys are right. If I had child I may not be advocating as hard either. I understand my mother's position, but it's just frustrating when you are trying to start a good career without a parents support. Thanks for the input and help.
