it's bad enough that the uniforms our school requires are so gross. button on apron & zip up top. because of the way the top are designed we all look like bells. all white with green trim. enough about that & if it stopped there i would be okay. but i was just going through the student handbook & it states that only white under pants are permitted and no thongs!!! give me a break. how can they tell us what undies to wear??? everybody knows that white under garments worn underneath white uniforms are gonna show. however bras were not mentioned. i think i'll find some bright red ones to wear. anybody else running into this???? i think if they were gonna tell us what to wear it should have been beige 'cause that dosen't show through. sorry this is so long.

I bought Hanes chonies that look like men's tighty whities (they even had a fake pee hole!) in white. They were comfy, covered my butt and I knew that when I was on a gurney trying to transfer a patient anyone behind me caught only a view of my skinny butt in white chones, not too exciting.

My issue with thongs is this: Scrubs are thin cotton. I can't imagine the only thing between my rear and all the hospital germs is a thin layer of cotton scrubs. When I got my butt covering cotton chones on I don't get icked out so easily when I sit/crawl/lean in a patients room.

A previous poster said that you'll have more things to worry about in school than chones. Believe them!

My school requires the students to wear white scrubs also. I haven't tried out any of the "no-show" scrubs yet, but I have purchased a nice, thick pair of Dickies scrubs. I tried them on with my white grans on, bent over a little, and I could still see the panties a bit. I can't imagine how some bright red, checkered, lacy thongs would look, so I sure hope my school also implements a white/beige undergarment rule. I think it's crazy that people have to be told these things anyway.

I wear low rise thongs. They don't stick out the top of my pants, and i don't have underwear lines. I figure that is more professional than picking underwear out of my butt all day, now that's tacky!

Once when I sent a student home for having inappropriate under garments on the student said "You can't tell that I have a thong on just by looking at me." I replied "I hope you have a thong on. It looks like you have no underpants on because all of your cellulite dimples are showing through your ill fitting tight pants!"

Some people do not realize how bad they look in a thong. Granted I am sure there are plenty of students on my clinical rotation who do wear a thong to clinical but it doesn't hang out over the top of their pants, nor do they have cellulite shining through their pants so I do not notice it.

my nursing school has the same guideline, however, i was told when i asked a faculty member that nude-colored underwear was equally acceptable.

i have discovered from the brands of scrubs i have been able to try on, that the white from landau, is the only one that i have found that offers the most coverage. i was wearing black underwear when i tried them on and you still couldn't see them.

thongs...that is a whole other topic for me...i can't stand them.

I think panty lines are much more tacky than thongs....IMO.

Any school that makes the students wear white pants need to get with the times anyway!

That's why I am so glad the program I'm in changed to black pants before I started there! :balloons:

:nono: yeah but even more material covering you the better I say = there is always someone who shows dimples and I dont mean their face. Also there is always a crazy nurse on the floor (0urs anyway) who will mess with ya-once she even pulled down my pants at the side (Not all the way) and laughed cuz I had on white grannies-Hell ya I said I aint a dimple showing girl--cover it all I say--It aint just the bigger girls either-anyone can have dimples!

However they need to realize dark maroon pants are a better option-much less anxiety would be had as students. As a nurse I can wear maroon or black those times I 'need' to. As a student it was many trips to BR to "check". crazy

I would say that a nurse pulling down pants of another nurse is a type of harassment, and shouldn't be allowed.....not to mention VERY unprofessional!

Personally, I don't care what people wear, but for that exact reason as you say is the main reason I believe at least wear something! :lol2:

Yeah I'm not looking forward to that particular aspect of white pants!:imbar:eek:

Y chromosome for the win! I'm sorry, but I am so very glad I don't have to deal with issues like that.

My school uses navy =)

I have to wear white scrub pants during clinical, and we're also allowed to wear white underwear only, NO thongs. I can understand their reasoning, but they make us pull our pants all the way up anyway, so I don't think anyone's going to see anything. ;) Plus, you can still see the white underwear lines through the pants anyway, since they're a little see-through. Oh well. I can't wait to wear whatever color scrubs I want!
