Have you heard back from Palomar yet about your position in standby? If not, did they give you a timeline on when you should be hearing back? I’m scared, I haven’t gotten anything from them yet and am assuming it means I’m getting rejected. Ughhh the anxiety!!
Best of luck!!

Hi! Just wanted you to know- I attended Palomar’s orientation on Tuesday and they said all alternates had been invited to the orientation. For those who were accepted, not showing up to orientation was equivalent to forfeiting their seat- unfortunately two people didn’t show, so two of the alternates in attendance were admitted on the spot. Anyways, just thought this might help you since you haven’t heard anything for some reason! Best of luck!!

Hey, thank you for the useful information! I actually just looked through my junk mail cause I wasn’t sure what was going on with my application. It turns out I got an acceptance letter on 5/18. I just emailed Palomar and I’m super anxious because based on what you said it seems like all the seats are filled… I applied and got rejected last application period and every email I’ve ever gotten from Palomar has been sent to my regular inbox. And of course the most important email got sent to junk, which I never really check. Ugh. Did they have any more information at the orientation as to if they’ll be accepting more students on the standby list?
This is such a bummer, I’ve been waiting for almost a year to get in. I hope they’ll be able to make something happen. Anyway, thanks so much for your help and information and good luck to you too!

Of course! And I am so sorry about it going to your junk mail folder, that’s the absolute worst. ? I wouldn’t have thought to check my junk mail either! Yeah all of the seats are filled- they said there will be 34 of us new admits as 2 students will be repeating their first semester in our cohort. I think there were around 40-45 of us there on Tuesday, so quite a few standbys were in attendance. Unfortunately they were pretty adamant that anyone not at the orientation, admitted or standby list, would not be considered. ? I really, really hope they can somehow make an exception for you. But if not, you got in this round so I’m sure that’s an awesome sign for getting in next semester!! I also got admitted to Southwestern, so if you’re worried maybe try applying there too. They have a bigger acceptance/cohort size too- somewhere around 60-70 I think? At least that’s how many were at the orientation. Anyways, congrats on the acceptance even if they don’t let you attend this semester- it’s still a big accomplishment to be accepted! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Thank you so much. Really needed that!! I guess now it’s just a waiting game to see if they’ll let it slide. I feel like they won’t since nursing programs are so intense, but we’ll see. Do you know how long it generally takes for them to respond to emails? Also, I would like to speak to them in person but I’m not sure if they’re in the office. They haven’t answered their phone so I’m just really freaking out.

Of course!! Really hope they are understanding, but you’re also super right about them being intense. The first semester instructors we met were very serious & no-nonsense. So we’ll see what happens! It’s hard to say how long response time from them takes, but I’d say maybe a day or two? Like for me, I received my offer of admissions May 14, accepted that same day (Saturday), then got an email back Monday the 16th at 11am. So since it was the weekend, I’m not really sure? When we had orientation, it was the Spring 22 cohort’s final exam day, so I’m not sure they’re still in their office. Have you been emailing [email protected]? That’s who emailed me back. Hopefully you hear back soon, I’m sure you must be anxious. Take a breath- it’ll work out whether it be this semester or next, & you’ll get there!

I got into Miracosta Fall 2022!
It was really luck though. I was rejected a few weeks ago, got a call today as an alternate, then a spot opened and I am accepted for Fall 2022!
I had roughly ~80 points, and scored an 84 on the TEAS. My GPA was average at about a 3.2, but I retook a physio course in Spring 2022 (got an A), and raised my core GPA to a 3.4

They said that apple watches weren’t prohibited, but that they do prefer analog because apple watches don’t stay lit up for the required time (but I think there is an updated mode that now does). The only time when we can’t have them is during our testing.
I have an Apple Watch that I think I will be using most of the time, but I’m also going to buy a cheap analog off Amazon to have for testing.
Did you see they also moved up the timeline on everything? During orientation they told us to do the drug test and background towards the end of July, and now it’s by June 24th. Guess I better get on that!
Is there a facebook group for our Cohort? I feel like it might be helpful for us all to stay connected over the Summer when we’re getting these pre-req’s done.

Yes I noticed that as well! I have tried looking on facebook but haven’t seen anything. I think it’s a good idea to have that. I’ll look again & if not I’ll see if I can make a FB group. It’d help my anxiety by knowing a few other students prior to the first day haha

For anyone who did not get in I made a Google Sheets document that outlines a lot of the programs within the area. If you enter in your information it'll automatically calculate some of your points for certain programs. Hoping it helps someone. Document is view only, but you can save your own copy to edit. https://docs.Google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hawCAUZbgKBtaiDrRgBUfxjcBPXVXb5E/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=114057589003449923059&rtpof=true&sd=true
