Published

hi

I apply at pacific college. I passed my interview  for ADN . does anybody knows how is this school for RN. / will you recommend?

Hey guys,

how's the program so far? what's your schedule like?

@NurseRFlowers  good so far, we are going to clinical, we have skills at the campus and our lectures online. Lots of studying and assignments the typical work load of nursing school

Nice !

Thanks for sharing and good luck to all of you

Hey ladies,

I'm new to the thread. Thanks for the useful information as I'll be joining you guys in second semester come 7/5 and wanted some insight the structure of the program and scheduling. Also for the people that are in the ADN program when is your graduation? BSN when are you guys graduating? Are you guys currently on campus for class and labs, how often is clinical etc. Any information you have will gladly be appreciated as I'm anxious to know and don't want to wait until the 1st day of class to find out everything.

Hey I’m currently in cohort 3 first semster. I’m just curious though how are you coming into our 2nd semester without going through fundamentals?

Hi,

I'm already an LVN and I took the pharmacology exam and hands on skills test to by past the 1st semester.

Interesting I’m already an Lvn also and they never offered me that. I guess I’ll have to be talking to them. Lmao

Well anyway to answer your question fundamentals for us was lecture day 4 hours on Friday and a 8 hour clinical day (assigned to you so that day is up in the air) plus another 8 hour day skills day on campus (also assigned to you) but that was for 3 weeks.

what we were told so far for 2nd semester is we will have an 8 hour skills day (for 3 weeks) a 12 hour clinical day (both of those days won’t be announced to us yet) and a 6 hour lecture day on Thursdays from 12-6. That’s all we know so far. I’m going all the way for BSN BUT we can take NCLEX as soon as we’re done with the ADN portion which will be 7/2022. They give us 1 week of NCLEX prep after that. For the BSN part right after I don’t have an exact start date but I know that program finishes in 2024 but the good thing is that I’ll be able to start working as an RN by the time BSN starts. Thats honestly what sold me so this program, it’s faster than other schools I looked into.

Being an Lvn already fundamentals has been easy I’m not going to lie I’m a bit bored because I know this information already it’s pretty much a review but all the professors have been great so far! Good lectures and material. I can’t wait to get to next term though LOL and I won’t lie the school is disorganized when it comes to last minute changes so if you’re working right now you have be VERY flexible because sometimes they will make changes like less than a week in advance which is the annoying thing. Also, we haven’t received our uniforms yet because they have been on back order so just buy any type of burgundy colored scrubs.

Hey,

Thanks for all the information, I look forward to joining you in July. Also, they just started this (skip fundamentals thing) if you pass the pharmacology and skills test. When I started taking my pre reqs with them back in 2018 they were still going through getting the program approved and I was told they’re wouldn’t be any “bridge” or bypassing fundamentals until they were 2 years into starting the program. Because I was originally wasn’t suppose to be starting the program until this upcoming September but last month when I came in to take my TEAS I was told that they just got it approved and it was contingent upon space availability. So after I took my TEAS and did my interview I was able to make an appointment to take the pharmacology and skills test, which I took on 5/17.

Man! Wish I could have waited and saved a bit of money LOL oh well it is what it is! But your welcome our class is cool and there’s more lvns too so it will be fun to meet other lvns! I’m Jen btw ?

Hey Jen,

Just curious have you found out anything about what day you have clinical? I received an email today that said we will have theory on Thursdays and Clinical any other day of the week being assigned to a particular day but the email doesn't say exactly which day. Wanted to know when they will assign so I can plan my work schedule around it. If you have any insight please let me know.

Thanks

Heyy LOL so remember when I said they’re pretty last minute? Well that’s all we know as well. Theory on Thursdays and 1 clinical day another day of the week which will depend on what clinical group you get placed in. For example this first term I got placed with my group to go to clinicals on Tuesday but the other groups are going either Monday or Wednesday. So as of right now we don’t know the clinical schedule for next term. To be honest this is the most frustrating part because since anything can be so last minute it messes with your work schedule. I totally get it I work as well. We have brought up these concerns with the schools director so hopefully everything can get sorted but they pretty much just say that they are waiting for approval from the actually clinical sites before giving our schedule out.
