Overseas RN taking EN?

Published

Good day to all! Could anybody advise me on what to do. The Nursing board of NSW gave me a referral letter recently for Bridging program for Overseas Registered nurses. Due to some financial constraints, I am thinking of taking up the Bridging program for Enrolled nurses instead. Is this wise?

I read from the NMB update last April that overseas RN can take up the EN assessment course.

Any advise is grealy appreciated!

Experience is only accepted from certain countries, not all.

Please check things thoroughly to make sure that you can get a visa to work there with the EN Certification.

In most other countries, that will no longer get you the visa. Please get the information directly from them registration office before you submit any money at all.

You also will still need to write their licensing exam, and pass the English exams before being given a visa that will permit you to remain and work there. When you are doing your training program, that uses a different type of visa.

Thanks for your help.. Hope everything will be fine with my application.

Erwin, pls give me updates about your application, maybe i'll do the same.. hehe.

Thank you!

hi erwin.. just want to ask how did you pay the assessment fee? Did you use credit card? I dont have credit card, how can I pay the assessment fee?

Most of the banks here in the Philippines dont release a bank draft which is in Australian dollar.

Hoping for your reply asap.

Thanks!

i paid thru my credit card, you can use other person's card as long as you have permission. You can also pay thru checks. Please see the application form of NMB

Is the bridging program an exam that you have to write? or more like a training course? Is it possible for you to fail in that program?

Thanks.. ;)

There are assessments on both theoretical and clinical parts...so yes, there is a possibility of failing. According to The College of Nursing in New South Wales, "The program consists of a 90 hour theoretical component and 160 hour clinical component conducted over 7 weeks (full time) or11 weeks (for programs offering part time classroom component). Classroom hours are from 9am to 4pm, clinical hours are from 7am to 3.30pm. Assessments are undertaken during the theoretical and clinical placement."

The training program is just that, a training program. You can fail it just like you can fail any other nursing program. You must also have excellent scores on the IELTS exams to be able to get residency there once you complete the bridge program. Getting residency is not automatically guaranteed.

And the entire cost is paid for by the student, it is not funded by anyone else. You also will be going there on a student visa, so you may not work more than 20 hours per week either.
