Gidday,
Apparently Western Australia nurses board has also taken on the title as Registered Nurse division 2 for Enrolled nurses.
To be an RN or RN Div 1 depending on what state you are in you must have (past 15 years) a Bachelors degree. Thats domestic. For international nurses I think it is taken on a country by country assessment.
An Enrolled nurse or Registered Nurse Division 2. Has a 12 month to 18 month education course through what you would call a community college I think.
Different states have different expectations of their Enrolled nurse. My advice to keep to your education of LVN is go to Western Australia or Queensland. I think South Australia still allows some medications to be given by ENs.
Good luck. C
I'm 20 years old and I'm going through LPN school in Aug. 04 and I've always wanted to live in Australia. How hard is it to go from the USA to Australia to work? My husband can do plenty of things, but welding or driving a semi-truck is his specialty.
It would be my husband, 2 dogs, and me who would be moving but I don't even know if I could get a job over there. I don't blame the government over there for not wanting to have to much of different ethnicity over there b/c look how the USA is now and plus our Pres. is trying to legalize illegal immigrants from Mexico being able to just come and work without any type of papers or legalization.
thank you for your time
First off we are way more multicultural than you would believe!!! check out http://www.sbs.com.au/sbs_front/index.html
Now you and your husband would probably be fine BUT you will not be able to bring your dogs - at least not without them going through at least 6 months quarrantine. See we do not have rabies here nor many other pests and so quarrantine is VERY VERY strict on importing animals.
If you want fother information check out the sticky thread - there is a link to the immigration department website. If you still want to bring your dogs I would check out Australian quarrantine services as well.

iIam a new male graduated degree nursing student in Hong Kong, i am looking for nursing job overseas. What do I need to do to work in Australia?
To work in Australia, you will need to pass the IELTS series of English exams with a near perfect score on the speaking section. There is a "sticky" at the top of this forum about working in Australia that may be of help to you as well.
Please let us know if youi have any more questions............. :wink2:

Hi, Rarry,I am applying to go to Aussi to work also. I am waiting for the result of the assessment from nursing board. It's been almost two months already, and I don't have any news yet. I am getting a bit worried now. How is your PR application going on? Hope every thing will be fine for us!

LVN = EN or enrolled nurse. However in Victoria that is RN division 2.
