Out of Scope RN jobs.

Nurses General Nursing

Hello All,

New to the community here. I would like to know what job possibilities there are out there for RN's that are out of scope. I know there are opportunities for teaching and management but I was wondering about some other options. I have 5 years experience and am currently working in the ICU. I'm curious what kind of jobs I could even consider that may be completely non nursing related.

By "out of scope," you imply working outside the scope of your license. I.e., exceeding the allowed duties. I imagine that's not what you mean?

Some nurses work as pharmaceutical or medical device reps, a nursing background isn't required but sometimes it is preferred. Preference is also given to employees with the right look.

OP, I would phrase it as "away from the bedside" instead of "out of scope" to avoid confusion. :)

Personally I am going into clinical education after 8 years of ER/trauma.

Specializes in retired LTC.

Book publishing; TV health commentaies

Specializes in geriatrics.

"Out of scope" means no union where I live.

Most management positions, clinical nurse educator, and advanced practice nursing roles are "out of scope"
