Our unit clerk

Published

She always seemed so nice, but now I know that she is wolf dressed in sheeps clothing. She reports EVERYTHING to our manager. Nobody ever seemed to know who was reporting stuff to her and then the clerk from 3-11 tipped me off on her. I work nights and one night I came in and I wasn't wearing our mandatory colors, instead I had hospital scrubs on. I saw her looking at me. I then saw her write something down a few minutes later. A couple of days later when I saw my manager one morning, she came up to me and said "You know, our poicy here is red tops with white pants. Not hospital scrubs." She never saw me wear them because I work nights and I was gone before she came in the next morning! So that night (after my manager said that) I said something about it at the nurses desk and I asked who would have said something and complain over something so minor and dumb. I KNEW it wasn't any of the nurses, because we are all good friends outside of work, plus none of them care! She had a nervous look on her face when I asked, but she was the first to say "I don't know". Another nurse recently got a write up because she walked into a isolation room without a gown on on night. She had to go in there for 2 seconds to fix the beeping IV pump. The patient was asleep and she used gloves. Hmmmm. How funny that this room was right in front of the clerks desk.....

Oh, I was compaling one evening baout the units policy on working the Friday night if we are off that weekend. All of us were complaing ot one another, because....we never get a true weekend off that way. If we are mandated (without extra pay) to work the Friday night, before out weekend off, we don't get off until our Saturday morning....and then we get home and sleep, on our Saturday off! Not fair. And then the next weekend, we have to work. We do every other weekend. Guess what.....my manager somehow got word on this complaint and pointed out that I knew this policy before she hired me. Which I didn't, and SHE didn't hire me....her assistant did.

What irks me the most is how this clerk tries to act like my buddy. She will come up and sit own next to me while I'm trying to do my freaking charting....and tell me about the drama a/b her daughters love life. I don't care! And please, I'm trying to concentrate and chart! Gosh...some people!

how about writing a report to her department head about the headache she is creating,your nursing immediate superior must be aware of this,bec this encoder/unit clerk has nothing to do with your line of duty.

Seems that she has no worhthy thing to do in your area,may be ask for a replacement.Gather and document facts that will make her out.You can never h

ave peace at work when you have people around ,like her.Thanks.

We had a UC like that once. She was merciless. We became good "friends" at work. I listened, nodded, pretended to care, but always kept busy or pretended to be so not to spend too much time with her. She instigated two people getting fired.

She no longer works at the hospital, or ANY hospital for that matter. Give them enough rope they will hang themselves. Just a matter of time.

Get the group together and just ignore her as much as possible. She will pick up onto it really quick. And she'll probably get out too.

I like the idea of messing with her head. :yeah:

What kind of manager would tolerate this kind of tattling? Sounds like the manager has too much time on her hands.

I hope you can find another place to work soon that doesn't make you dress up like a clown.

I kinda like those colors...like little candycanes! :wink2:

That should have come with a drink alert! I just spit all over the monitor and all 5 cats and the dog are staring at me... with that "Mom's lost her mind..."look. Interesting mental image!:yeah::yeah:

sharpeimom:paw::paw:

i worked with a nurse like this once, she could suck up to the DON and the doctors..she would experess concern about the patients welfare and act so worrued and they ate it up...the DON didn't know that she was doing the same thing to the docs when she wasn't around
