I got my acceptance email to OU-Tulsa last week. Woo!
Jenrn2b88: regarding housing: My boyfriend is in the medical school at OU in OKC and he's living in a studio apt. at 429 NW 11th St. He says it's only about a mile from campus. I think the nursing school is on the same campus or very nearby it. The area is really neat - he's just across the street from a few popular OK restaurants in midtown (as well as St. Anthony hospital) and just adjacent to a very beautiful old neighborhood called Heritage Hills. It's within walking distance of Bricktown (a big nightlife area in OKC with lots of yummy restaurants). He pays about $700 a month (a little steep for me, but I think OKC is more expensive than Tulsa as far as housing goes). There are quite a few brand new (super nice) apartments going up next to his that are similar in price. I've seen lots of dogs around too, so they must accept pets.

Just to clarify, the OU Health Sciences Center campus is Oklahoma City is one big campus that has all the OKC-based graduate health and biology programs for OU, e.g. med school, nursing school, dental school, public health, PhD in biology, etc. :-)

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply! I do believe the scrubs are more expensive through the school, but I could be wrong. If I remember correctly, it was around $180 for two pairs of scrubs and our OU polo through the school. The main thing is finding scrubs that fit you. Like I said, I haven't had any problems with mine but I know lots of other people's didn't fit them correctly.
Our clinicals are already pre-determined. However, within the clinical, we did get to somewhat choose our patients. Kind of. During the summer, people were at Norman Regional, OU Medical Center, and OU in Edmond. This semester, everyone is at OU Medical Center for med-surg. We also did our psychosocial rotation this semester. Next semester is critical care and OB. This semester at OU Medical Center our instructors had a list of floors and we got to choose which floor we wanted to be on from their list.
Before starting, I was told the OKC campus was going to accept 48 people, but we have always had 38 that I am aware of.

Hi [COLOR=#003366]outriton,
Sorry for just getting back to you, life has been crazy. Add the holidays and trying to coordinate my trip to OKC with my family that lives out there has been hectic. I have been in Costa Mesa/Newport area since I was 18, so not too horribly far from SD. I actually was down there a few weeks ago. How was the move/adjustment for you moving from SD to OKC? I will be in OKC 12/4-12/7. I am taking a campus tour on Friday morning at 9am since I have never physically been to the campus. If you are free we should meet for coffee or something. I will send you a PM and we can hopefully arrange something. : )

Can anyone tell me if one can start OU or any other BSN program in Oklahoma in the spring? I just found out I graduated with an AS PRE-BSN NURSING.
Hi Jen.
I think this forum has some minimum requirement for posts before you can PM.
If it's not too late for you to add plans to your OKC trip, let's get together! You can reach me outside of here at [email protected].
Jen:
I also forgot to mention that I'll be back in CA over the holidays. I'll be in Orange County 12/27-30, so we could meet up then too. Just email me at [email protected] when you have time, and we'll figure something out!

I think OU Lawton has a BSN program that starts in the springs.
People live all over honestly. Some live downtown near campus, some in Edmond, some in Yukon, some in the Quail Springs Mall/North OKC area. The area right around campus is not the best, but overall I think OKC is relatively safe. I live in the north OKC area and it takes about 15-25 minutes depending on traffic.
I'm pretty sure all of our intercession classes are online, but I could be wrong. So far, our August and now December intercession classes have been online. We also had one online class in the summer and fall semesters. It really is a mix of people from all backgrounds and ages. I think most are from Oklahoma but there are some from Texas and Oregon as well.
