OU Accelerated BSN 2014-15

Just got my acceptance email for the OKC campus today. Anybody else hear back yet?

I have not received an email myself about orientation and it is driving me crazy! I did receive my student email account. I was sent an email about how to setup my student email account but have not received any emails on either emails about orientation.

I have my email account all set up, but no word yet on orientation. I know Tulsa campus had orientation in January. I hope they let us know the date sooner than later so I can book my flight at a reasonable price.

Hi Jenrn2b88! I have thought about finding someone to call and ask if they know when it is going to be so I can request off at my job to make it myself. I hope they give you enough notice to get a good deal on a flight!!

Hi laurencolyn, I was thinking of calling student affairs tomorrow morning if I have time and try to get some answers. If I get an answer I'll let you know:)

I thought about doing that myself but I will definitely love to hear if you find out anything. If you get an answer, it is easy to reach me on my personal email. My personal email is [email protected]. Feel free to email me anytime!

Alright got ahold of someone this morning and the orientation date is not set in stone but tentatively set for April 25th. Hopefully they can confirm the date soon.

Wow...that is really late. That would mean we only have a week before the other forms (immunizations, etc.) are due. Might as well start sending my information by the end of this month to stay ahead.

Emails went out this morning, orientation is on the 25th and we have another mandatory day may 29th. It will be nice to meet everyone in person.

I didn't see the may 29th date until you mentioned it on here. I wonder what we will be doing for boot camp. Excited to meet everyone though!

Hey, they updated the orientation page: http://nursing.ouhsc.edu/Current-Students/documents/Orientation/2014-OKC-ABSN-Orientation.pdf

That's where I got that date from:)

I had a quick question for anyone who knows a little about OKC. My original living arrangements have been retracted due to unfortunate circumstances and was wondering if anyone knew of any good apartments in the area of the school. I was also curious as to which areas to stay away from. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Lauren.

Sorry to hear about your housing situation falling through. I work at the OUHSC campus in OKC now. Mostly people live outside of the area and commute in, e.g. Edmond, Moore, Norman, etc. A few live in Downtown OKC or around the Paseo, which are trendier areas to live, but most people are too afraid to live very close to campus.

There are definitely rougher around the edges, more run down areas around NW 23rd, but everybody I know who lives around there (mostly near OCU) says it's safe - it's just that people think it's scarier than it actually is.

If you want to be very close to campus but still "safe", you could look into the University Village apartments. They're run by OUHSC, so it's kind of like apartment-style dorms.
