Other Nursing Schools in Houston

Published

Hi,

I wanted to know if anyone knew of other nursing schools in houston or Texas that their is a possibility of getting into after failing the first time. I basically mean after failing is your only option to try to get into a associates degree program or are there any BSNs programs that might consider.

To be honest, the manner in which your question is phrased/worded is confusing me. I want to help you, please clarify to me what your situation is.

Have you failed out of a nursing program?

Why can't you reapply to the program at which you failed already? Most programs grant you two failures until you're completely kicked out.

Why did you fail? Was it a major clinical error? Was it failing theory?

You need to consider all this. The BEST thing is to be honest, fess up, and call the programs. Be transparent and tell them you'd appreciate them extending a chance. Emphasize how you're a good candidate as you've learned from your mistake and have a plan to rectify your previous mistakes - WHICH I do hope you have.

Good luck. Many nursing programs in the Houston area.

BSN & ADN programs in Houston are so competitive right now - chances of getting a 'second chance' are very slim unless there are some very unusual extenuating circumstances. Sorry.

Especially if you "just" failed (as in recently). If you failed 5 years ago and are trying again, and you've grown up and had some life lessons in the meantime, that's usually more appealing than someone who failed last semester and is trying somewhere else.

There are several students I know that have failed out of my ADN program and were able to reapply and continue through to graduate. It doesn't happen with everyone, but under certain circumstances I think it is possible.

Look into the Chamberlain School of Nursing, which is a program of last-resort for applicants in your situation. The entity is for-profit and has admitted students who have failed at other programs. I believe they operate a campus in or near Houston.
