I haven't seen a forum for nursing applicants for the Fall of 2021! Just out of pure curiosity where others are standing with points and anxious about applying!
Sheesh, that will be an extra long wait for you, I guess I shouldn't complain! LOL Do you know of any others applying & what their points are? Reading past threads on here, it seems to be kind of all over the place.
Thank you for passing on the info, my friend did hear about there being less spots as well, which stinks! She's applying with points in the high 70s, so we're hoping she makes the cut off!!
I applied with 100 points, but to be honest I'm hoping the traditional is only my backup as I am planning to apply to the bridge program as well. Considering the bridge program application window is so much later, I just want to be sure I can start this fall one way or the other. I'm also having a little doubt about the bridge program because it's been awhile since I went to LPN school so part of me thinks the traditional program would be a better fit. Just hoping to get in at this point & then figure it out from there!
100 points is great! It sounds like you probably even have all of the sciences not just the pre-reqs? Is this your first time to apply? What did you think of the HESI? OSU is one of the few (if not only) programs around OKC that requires the Chemistry portion. I think that trips up a lot of people from what I've heard about retakes.
For your friend, the cut-off last cycle was 78 but it isn't always. Seems like it keeps creeping up a little higher every cycle but I've never heard of it being higher than 78. The point system is odd though in my opinion. For example you earn the same amount of points if GPA is 3.5 or 4.0. To me, those GPAs are worlds apart. Hopefully they give equal weight to HESI scores, GPA and points and don't skew too far in one direction as long as minimums are met.
Last cycle, letters went out early in the month so we could start hearing any time now! Best of luck to you both and keep posting!
The only thing I'm missing is micro, I'm taking it this fall (or whenever I am able to start the nursing program), and I've taken all of my classes at OSU-OKC so I got the bonus points for that which helps a little!
I didn't do excellent by any means on the HESI, LOL. I think you're right about the chem portion causing scores to be lower. That was my weakest point, for sure! I only took it once, I went in telling myself that I was just going to see how it went & planned on retaking it anyways, but then they changed the requirements & the HESI A2 isn't a requirement for the LPN bridge program (there's a different HESI test for it, they previously required both but changed it as of this semester) so I didn't take it again.
I definitely get your feelings of the point system being a little odd. I have a 3.8 GPA (from getting Bs in 2 stupid classes years ago that aren't even required for this degree ?), but feel like at least someone with a 4.0 should get more points instead of being grouped in with the 3.5+ like it is now. I've heard they look at your required science grades if there's too many people right at the cut off points, but obviously don't know if that's true.
That's exciting they went out early last cycle!! I think today is technically the last day that someone could apply, so I hope you're right & we'll hear soon. Good luck to you as well!

Oh well. Guess I’ll see what happens. LOL
Are you kidding?! A 3.44 is great!! I totally understand that feeling though, I had to retake 4 classes because of choices I made when I was young.
86 points puts you in a great position. Hopefully we hear soon!!

Hey Congrats on getting the app turned in! I turned mine in the first week of Feb so the wait has been extremely long!
A couple of ppl from my psio class who had planned to apply this cycle but decided against it after meeting with their advisors. They were told this cycle was extremely competitive and from what I can remember there were going to be fewer spots available (something about covid but can't recall specifically). Anyway it's second hand so I would not worry too much about it. They personally decided to wait until next cycle because their points were just over requirement and other stats mediocre so felt more points next cycle would help put them into better contention.
