I had my PN Orientation yesterday. It was a big eye opener for me. The teachers were so to the point and strict. I know that is to be expected but I did not see a smile on their faces at all during the meeting. They were honest and told us like it is and how it is going to be. We ordered our uniforms and got our supply list. We also got a very strict handbook with the rules. I am planning on knowing that by heart. It was very strict and they let us know who wasin charge but I am still excited. One of the teachers did say for every hour of lecture you should study 3 hours at home! WOW! That is a lot of studying. Anyways.....I feel like I know more about the program now and know what to expect. Has anyone else met their teachers/instr.? How were they? Did they make you a little nervous? :uhoh21: I am so glad I have you guys to go through this with!

I had my orientation a couple of weeks ago too. I was overwhelmed. I was amazed at the amount of time you have to devote to this program- Only 7.0 credits!! It makes it hard to get scholarships and grants because it is technically only part time. I was told that you can't work full time and successfully complete this program, but I don't have a choice. I hopes it all works out.

I remember my orientation from a couple of years ago. I felt overwhelmed with all the papers to fill out, books to order, folders with info on just about everything. It does feel overwhelming but the instructors acknowledged that to us and said that everything will fall into place--which it does. Good luck to you.

I don't know why the instructors have to make it such hell on the first day!! I mean, you are going to figure it out if you can't cut it soon enough, right? They just make you so nervous! I haven't even had my orientation yet, but I know how it'll be...same as CNA class orientation. Crazy!
Good Luck to you!!!

I went to mine a couple of weeks ago and WOW is right!
I think they take this opportunity to put the fear of god in everyone. I know out of the 40 of us in that room, some are not going to be there with us in the end. I am determined I am not going to be one of them. :)

Crazy!lET ME TELL YOU WHY THEY ARE SO INTENSE ON THAT FIRST DAY, BECAUSE THIS IS AN INTENSE PROGRAM. tHEY CRAM AN TREMENDOUS AMOUNT INTO LESS THAN A YEAR. bESIDES ALL THAT YOU WILL BE LEARNING AND MEMORIZING ON A DAILY BASIS, yOU WILL GET MUCH MORE CLINICAL OR HANDS ON EXPERIENCE THAN THE RN STUDENTS COULD EVER DREAM OF. tHAT WAS A BIG SELLING POINT FOR ME. i'M NOW WORKING ON MY RN AND I'M SOOO GLAD I GOT MY LPN FIRST. IT HAS REALLY HELPED. THESE INSTRUCTORS ARE TRYING TO GET THROUGH TO THE STUDENTS THAT, YOU ALL HAD BETTER HAVE A SUPPORT SYSTEM IN PLACE AND BE READY TO BEAR DOWN AND STUDY LIKE YOU NEVER DID IN HIGH SCHOOL. IT IS A WONDERFUL PROGRAM. I HAVE WONDERFUL MEMORIES AND EXPERIENCES FROM IT, BUT I HAVE NEVER WORKED SOOOOO HARD IN SUCH A SHORT TIME(HOPE THAT MADE SENSE). THESE INSTRUCTORS AREN'T TRYING TO SCARE YOU OR BULLY YOU THEY ARE TRYING TO PREPARE YOU FOR WHAT LIES AHEAD. BEST OF LUCK
