Hi,

I can’t find a thread for this program so figured I would start one. I was wondering if anyone has got a confirmation their application was received?

@ohjoy I cannot believe the price for some of these places that look completely run down! Mama Mia! Anyone want to rent a house together? I see nice homes but I don't need 3 bedrooms and can't afford a whole home but if I had roommates, I could. Hopefully, OHSU will send information on housing so I can see about getting a dorm room at least for the first quarter...

Dorms might be unavailable because of coronavirus but you could try to apply for the family housing/"apartment style" housing at SOU. It's limited, and it goes first to students with children, but I've heard from friends at other universities who are married or who have children and live in family housing that those haven't been shut down because they're basically just apartment buildings and nothing is communal.

@Catsandcoffeecakes @ohjoy I think I'll try the SOU family housing then. That way I can feel out the area and not feel a major rush to land housing moving down from Washington. Hopefully, they have something open for me!

Thanks again everyone! I can't wait to meet you all!

@tonniea @orneryscientist hi! Do either of you know where to get the certifications needed for the compliance?

@kangaroo Which certifications are you referring to? You'll need your full vaccine records from your doctor's office to upload them to Complio. The Compass trainings won't be available until 30 days before the program starts. Then there are a bunch of forms to download and sign and re-upload.

@orneryscientist thank you! where did you read about the compass trainings? I totally missed that. My vaccinations are a mish mosh because I've moved around so much. I scheduled to see my PCP to get a titer but they just informed me that due to financial reasons (due to covid) they are closed as of today. Hopefully, what I have will work...

I am going to be relocating to the Ashland area for the Summer ABSN and would be interested in getting an apartment/house with other cohort members. I thought we were going to be added to a facebook group with the rest of our cohort once we emailed our admission agreement but I haven't heard anything yet. I sent my admissions agreement in 5 days ago and only received an automated response that they were out of the office and working remotely. Has anyone been added to a facebook group yet?

Hello! I'm going to try and message you through allnurses. I'll send you my email so we can discuss perhaps finding a house/ apartment together.

I still have to send in my deposit but don't have any facebook information yet.

Are we supposed to get the CPR compliance ourselves and if so who has gotten it and where? Everywhere in Portland seems to be closed for obvious reasons.

Yes, you'll have to go to American Heart Association to get your BLS certification. This link will help you find a provider near you: https://ahainstructornetwork.americanheart.org/AHAECC/classConnector.jsp?pid=ahaecc.classconnector.home&courseid=1-5BPOMK&coursestyle=classroom&language=1001&_ga=2.78385360.595153865.1585758535-1373864478.1585758535

I received mine first through an independent company for AHA and then my hospital I work at provides them for their employees however, all classes are closed right now. But I'm speaking with OHSU who said that a lot of students are in similar situations and not to worry because the most important things we need right now are our drug test and background test in order to start classes.

There has been some movement, but I don't have any idea how much. I was offered a new spot in the Fall cohort yesterday that I accepted, so I moved from my original Winter 2021 spot. So, there is one more spot for that cohort now. Best of luck to you all!

I had CPR from my current job and have been slowly working through the compliance. The other certificates are in Compass as @orneryscientist listed above, but not until a month before our classes start, which seems rather inconvenient. Oh, well.

No approval on the facebook group yet. That will be a nice tool once we are approved.
