I've been reading other threads and websites on what are the prefered areas of the employers in hiring nurses. Most of them are from ICU, OR, ER, PICU, NICU or the like.
I am a nurse working in a infectious area and just wondering if there are many opportunities for a future infectious nurse to work in a hospital in ontario or alberta.

Infection control nursing is a hotly-sought position here in Edmonton. Those hired for this position generally have many years of seniority in the region. I won't say it would be impossible for a newcomer to obtain such a position, but I suspect it would be very difficult.

Like Jan said, seniority rules. How do you feel about joining a union and following the rules set out by the union?
