hey guys, so i just want your opinion. I have a co-worker who requested me to work for her, i agreed, but did not get any email confirmation or text confirmation from our staffer which is typically the case. Evening before supposed switch when i was to work, i called staffing as my schedule did not reflect the request, staffing confirmed i am off. Now the person i was to work for was still on schedule. this will no doubt become a finger pointing and disciplinary issue. who do you guys think the liability rests upon? thanks - an overthinker

Your co-worker should have checked the schedule herself, and she should have made it clear whether or not she would be the one working that day. If you want to swap shifts with someone, you really are still responsible to make sure the shift is covered.

thanks, yea so my thinking leads it to its either she did not get it approved or staffing forgot to enter the switch into the computer, which is why i called the night before.

You found that the official schedule had not been switched. Did you then talk to the nurse who asked you to switch? If I were that nurse, I would be grateful for the heads-up.
