Hey all. I have to retake Chem before applying to a cc nursing program but here's my conundrum. I was hoping Chem would be offered at one of the two schools near me on Sundays as it has been in the past and it's not. A&P 1 is offered Sunday however. Should I just go ahead with A&P since it works into my schedule and then retake Chem over the summer or would this be a terrible idea? Many thanks.

Quick question...did you pass chem and just want/need a better grade for the nursing program or did you fail it?
Before you go ahead and register for A&P, check to be sure Chem isn't a pre-req for A&P. If you outright failed the chem class and it is pre-req you won't be able to take A&P. If you passed chem but not with a high enough grade for the nursing program you'll be good to go to do A&P.
If you are able to take A&P you might as well as you wait to take chem. One less class you need to worry about
I passed Chem with flying colors but it was more than 10 years ago so it expired. Hence the need for a retake.

AP 1 at Norwalk CC had one chapter at the beginning devoted to chemistry review that we were tested on. For A&P 2 you need a little more of the chem background to understand acids/bases/ions particularly for respiratory system and kidneys but for AP1 you should be fine.
Ok. More advice. If I were to retake Chem now (fall) what do I tell my boss so that I can get out of work early without raising red flags that I'm looking for a career change?

Just say the truth. Taking classes at local cc for self improvement. No need to elaborate further
Hmmm....interesting! I could try that...

I just emailed ************ at NVCC and she said that the letters were sent out from Hartford on April 5th so we should be getting them soon.
