  1. Thanks so much for the great info! Much appreciated. Hope your semester is going well.
  2. Hi Samy, I took genetics online through Asnuntuck CC. It was during a short summer semester, so the workload was a little intense but not nearly as bad as an "in-person" summer class (I did that for chemistry). There were a lot of writing assignments that needed quick turnaround, mandatory participation in a discussion board, and weekly exams. But there were no recorded lectures to listen to, just power points and reading assignments. The book (Cummings) was engaging and I do feel like I learned a lot - it's a fascinating subject. Hi CVT, thanks for being willing to share your experiences! I am going to Stamford too in January. I am prepared to work! How has your experience been so far - do you find the program to be well organized? What are some of the clinical sites for your class? Also when do we find out the schedule for the year (breaks etc) - at orientation? What weeks are you off this year in April/August? Thanks for your input!
  3. Hi 2b, focus on finishing strong on your prereqs - sounds like you've been doing great! From what I gathered there is no "formula" for admission. Write some compelling answers to the admissions questions, and get some good recommendations - and don't worry about that undergrad GPA if it was over the minimum requirement. I had a "meh" undergrad GPA, a strong GPA from a related MA degree, a 4.0 in prereqs all from CT CC except for stats/research which was covered by my previous education, and applied with no outstanding prereqs. I have been out of the work force for a while, recently returned, and all work experience has been in health care (direct patient care and research). That is my story, try not to stoke your anxiety with comparisons - just put your best foot forward and it will shine through. Everyone has a different path, especially with second degree programs. Best of luck to you!!
  4. AP 1 at Norwalk CC had one chapter at the beginning devoted to chemistry review that we were tested on. For A&P 2 you need a little more of the chem background to understand acids/bases/ions particularly for respiratory system and kidneys but for AP1 you should be fine.
  5. Stamford! Look forward to meeting everyone at orientation.
  6. Congratulations AMW! Just a Stop and Shop flyer in my mailbox today
  7. Hi there! Applied for the January deadline for Stamford admission. All prereqs are done. Racing to the mailbox myself each day. Good luck everyone!
  8. Hi Hopeful, thanks for all of the great advice, it was really helpful to hear your perspective. I love your mantra, and I suspect I will adopt it as well. And congratulations on your new job - would love to hear how it goes for you. I am waiting on news from UConn and hope to hear soon. All the best to you as you start your new career!
  9. Hi UCStudent, I just submitted my application for Stamford 2017 (although the postal service tells me that my documents are floating around New Jersey somewhere). AP 1/2 over the summer will be tough as those are such short semesters, but worth it if you can get it done with a good grade - you have an awesome GPA so I'm sure you'll be able to do it! I took Genetics online last summer through Asnuntuck CC and it was pretty easy - completely online and no lectures to listen to, so it saved a lot of time. Hopeful - you sound a bit "meh" about the program - I've read most of the old threads and feel like I have a good sense of the disorganization and the amount of self-directed learning required - do you have anything else to add? (positive or negative). How have you found your job search post graduation? Also, someone in an earlier thread mentioned that they may revamp the program for 2016 - do you know anything about this? If you're working, do you feel prepared? Sorry for the barrage of questions, and thanks in advance for any input you may have (any input from current students/recent grads appreciated as well!)
